Dish Kunst and the Stories that Colour the Streets
There’s something quietly powerful about encountering art where you don’t expect it. A small plate fixed to a wall, a painted figure looking back at you from a bridge. A burst of colour interrupting the everyday. For Dish Kunst, this sense of discovery is central to her work. Art that doesn’t just exist in galleries, but lives among people, woven into the streets themselves.

London International Paste-Up Festival and the Fight for Brick Lane
Every September, hundreds of pieces of paper arrive in London from across the world. They come folded into envelopes and covered with drawings, portraits, characters and messages. For a few days, they converge on the streets of East London, where buckets of paste, brushes and an army of artists and volunteers transform ordinary walls into enormous collaborative works of art. This is the…

Ed Hicks at Nuart Aberdeen: Exploring Landscapes that Think
Ed Hicks' latest mural at Nuart Aberdeen is tempting to admire simply as a dramatic landscape. Towering mountains rise through layers of mist, light breaks across distant hills and the composition recalls some of the great Romantic painters. Look closer though and something unusual begins to happen. Scattered across the painting are fragments of thoughts, phrases and half-finished sentences. They appear almost like voices drifting through the landscape.

Jil Mandeng ‘Offside’ – A Football Art Exhibition Exploring Identity in London
As the world's attention turns to the knockout stages of the FIFA World Cup, a new exhibition in east London asks a question that stretches far beyond the football pitch. Jil Mandeng's Offside is a compelling football inspired art exhibition opening at BSMT Space in London. One that explores how ideas of nationality, heritage and belonging have become increasingly complex in a world shaped by migration and cultural exchange.

The History of Chrisp Street Market: From Medieval Marshland to the Festival of Britain
The history of Chrisp Street Market is the story of Poplar itself. One of East London's most recognisable public spaces, it has been the heart of the community for generations. A place of traders, neighbours and everyday life. It also formed a key part of the Festival of Britain in 1951. Yet the story of Chrisp Street and Poplar stretches back far beyond the post-war years.

Alisa Oleva the Walking Artist Inviting Us to View the City Differently
Most people walk through a city without giving it much thought. We follow familiar routes, take the quickest shortcuts and move between destinations almost automatically. For artist Alisa Oleva, walking is never a neutral act. Every journey contains stories, memories, choices and possibilities that can go unoticed. We are meeting as part of the Nuart Aberdeen Festival 'Poetry is in the Streets'.

From Style Writing to Abstraction: Remi Rough Paints Aberdeen
On Loch Street in Aberdeen, a burst of colour now cuts through the city's familiar granite grey. Painted as part of Nuart Aberdeen's 2026 festival, Poetry is in the Streets, the new mural from London artist Remi Rough is a dynamic addition. Intersecting planes of colour, sharp geometry and flowing movement combine in a composition that seems to shift depending on where you stand.

This year celebrates 75 years since the Festival of Britain. As part of the event, a 'Live Architecture' exhibition was taking place in what is now the area of Chrisp Street Market. It became a pivotal moment in urban planning

Chrisp Street Market and the Festival of Britain: A 75-Year Legacy in Poplar
Seventy-five years after the Festival of Britain, Chrisp Street Market in Poplar remains one of its most enduring and overlooked legacies. Yet it still functions as a living and thriving piece of post-war optimism. The Festival of Britain and Post-War Renewal The Festival of Britain (1951) was designed to re-energise a country recovering from World War II. Through architecture, design, and culture, it aimed to present a vision of a modern, forward-looking Britain.

From Chaucer to Today: The Story of St Leonard’s Priory
One of the most celebrated works of medieval literature is Geoffrey Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales. It's an epic poem featuring the tales of a group of pilgrims making their way to Canterbury. Among them was Madame Eglentyne (sometimes spelt Eglantine). A woman described in the prologue as a prioress at the “scole of Stratford atte Bowe”. This school was part of the Priory of St Leonard.
