I'm making this my cover photo for pride month this year 😂 Really enjoyed Dispatch, by the way. Thanks, @adhocstudio.com! Just ordered myself an SDN coffee mug to support the team. #AsexualAsFuckBoiii

Spent the afternoon at my local pottery studio, decided to experiment and attempt a platter with an attached dip bowl! A cat platter! A clatter? Platpurr? I’ll workshop it. Anyway please wish me luck that it survives the kiln!

A top-down photo of a handmade clay platter laid on newspaper. The piece resembles a rotund cat lying on its back, with pointed ears at the top, small front paws curled inward, and hind legs with paw details visible. The clay is smooth but visibly hand-shaped, with soft tool marks. At the bottom is an attached dip bowl made from the cat's curled tail. The newspaper beneath shows colorful children’s book advertisements, contrasting with the brown clay. The platter is unfinished and drying on a work surface.

New addition to my #BattleJacket. I've been really into The Decemberists lately. Also been enjoying @colinmeloy.bsky.social's children's book series, Wildwood. Wish it had been around when I was a kid. I grew up next to a nature preserve, I imagine I would have "visited" Wildwood frequently.

A blue denim jacket sleeve is laid out on a white table. "This is why we fight - The Decemberists" is written on the sleeve in black ink, with the phrase in a winding cursive font and the band's name in capital print lettering. The jacket has some other decorations visible, a patch and some embroidery of a hippy girl flashing a peace sign.

Note: I intend to eventually embroider the writing when the ink fades.

The gooberly tabby in this picture is our latest foster fail, Churu. This has become a three cat household. honestly adopted her mostly for the benefit of Dovah (the white cat), but as you can see Churu is hilarious and a joy to have around for us humans, too.

See the Alt Text for this image to read the accompanying story of The Crooked Tree as told in the movie "Wristcutters: A Love Story", or visit my post on Instagram to listen to it www.instagram.com/p/DPznJclEQG... #Inktober #Inktober2025 #Inktober2025Day14 #Inktober2025Day14Trunk #Inktober2025Trunk

The tree’s canopy spreads wide with detailed foliage, while its roots twist naturally into the ground. The words “Inktober Day 14 – ‘Trunk’” and the artist’s signature “Insomnia Doodles” are written below the drawing.

The parable of the Crooked Tree, taken from the movie “Wristcutters: A Love Story”:

Once upon a time there was a crooked tree and a straight tree. And they grew next to each other. And every day the straight tree would look at the crooked tree and he would say, “You’re crooked. You’ve always been crooked and you’ll continue to be crooked. But look at me! Look at me!” said the straight tree. He said, “I’m tall and I’m straight.” And then one day the lumberjacks came into the forest and looked around, and the manager in charge said, “Cut all the straight trees.” And that crooked tree is still there to this day, growing strong and growing strange.

While the history is noble, it is important to note and remember why the movement ultimately failed. They became weakened by infighting and a lack of cohesive and meaningful action. We can win the fight against fascism if we can learn not to make those same mistakes.

A person wearing the same denim jacket shown in the above attached post, shown from the chest up. New patch addition! The symbol is the Iron Front, the group that tried to stand up against nazis during WWII. The three arrows represent the rejection of fascism, communism, and monarchy. The Iron Front symbol has been adopted by social democrats and anti-fascist movements in recent years.

Pins on the pocket flap include one with Earth that says “OH NO Ross & Carrie” a script pin reading “Barely Functioning,” and a small owl pin against a starry background. Dovah is usually very polite around food, but she will beg for two things- spinach and ice cream (not together, of course, though I imagine she would go absolutely bonkers for spinach ice cream) She did get a dressing free spinach leaf btw! Spinach is safe and good for kitties. Dovah gives it 10/10

A white cat with black spots on its head and ears sits on a desk, staring intently at a bowl of spinach salad. A mechanical keyboard with illuminated keys and a black mouse are visible on the desk. I finished making Dovah's new woven coil basket bed! The cushion has a layer of heat reflecting Insul-Bright so it will be self warming when she lays on it! I used 10mm jute macrame cord and super thick plush yarn to make this, and it was such a fun and surprisingly easy project! Took about 6 hours.

The coil basket cat bed is finished! There’s a layer of Insul-Bright in the cushion so the bed will be heat reflective and self warming when she lays in it! I’m afraid the bed MIGHT be a bit too small for her, so if she doesn’t want to use it, I might give it to someone else.
