The debt crisis has started: You don't fix a debt crisis by shortening its fuse. Bessent's Treasury buybacks are symptom relief — the deficit that caused this is still there.

By fracturing the West, undermining alliances & rendering the USA unreliable, Trump has removed the counterweight that might otherwise have forced a Chinese rebalancing. Trump is, in other words, unwittingly feeding the very pyramid he declared himself the enemy of. insightview.eu/macro_articl...

If the United States succeeds in its efforts regarding regime change in Iran (without soldiers on the ground), it will more or less indirectly or directly control 40% of China’s oil imports. Until now, Beijing has remained passive even as one ally after another falls. (Image: OpenAI GPT)

The USA (& EU) have not exercised due diligence, but China has. And no, it is not “Joe Biden’s fault”. It is decades of both Rep. and Democ. presidents who have not had long-term plans. FT - Artificial intelligence: Power failure could undermine America’s AI ambitions www.ft.com/content/47da...

Instead of sending a hospital ship to Greenland and lecturing Europeans on how they should live, the Trump administration ought to focus on why the USA spends so much more per capita on healthcare, yet life expectancy in most European countries is still rising faster than in the United States.

Greenland does not want an “Anschluss” with the USA. It wants to remain part of DK, NATO & the EU. Moreover, neither under Trump 1 nor Trump 2 has the USA taken actions that indicate it feared Russian/Chinese military activity off Greenland’s coast. Politics today is based on lies rather than facts

The US tech rally rests on two key assumptions: (1) historic investments in AI will secure rising EPS, and (2) Trump guarantees no regulatory barriers to the development of AI. Both assumptions are under pressure: (1) China is commoditising AI, and (2) Trump is facing growing political opposition.

If the Arctic region is so militarily vulnerable, and the Chinese and Russians are so dangerous, then why on earth is the United States not building more military bases in Greenland? And why has the US reduced defence spending under previous presidents, including Trump 1.0?

China faces significant structural problems that can only be resolved through structural reforms aimed at reducing excess capacity. In addition, the country is grappling with “Japanification” (demographic headwinds). Xi Jinping’s ideological approach hinders these solutions.

Beijing used eight years to prepare for Trump 2.0 and his "empty" threats by boosting self-sufficiency and its military - but is the United States ready for a hawkish response from China? The United States will need allies more than ever, yet they are currently being thrown overboard.
