Why aren't CNN and other big media outlets sharing videos like yours? So annoying that Americans have to do investigative journalism on their own to learn the truth.

I have to have faith in the students sitting in those classrooms. With their easy access to information, many of them will learn the truth and form their own opinions. These smart ones will call out the lies and dissent.

What if she'd been armed? We have a right to protect ourselves and our families. These guys are thugs.

Rachel Maddow is so great about reporting on nationwide protests at the beginning of her show every night. Her coverage both motivates people to protest and forces mainstream media to report on these protests. She is a public servant!

Hiya, The rally was wonderful, very exciting. I met a woman and her daughter at my hotel, had dinner together, and then went to the protest the next day. Jamie Raskin and Maxwell Frost were dynamic speakers. My friends were also at the Capitol on Saturday. 5,0000! Back to Sacto tomorrow .

I was there too! Great group of protesters and terrific support from honking drivers.

Connected via Indivisible with 2 women in DC who I will join for the rally. Excited to raise my voice! ✊

I'm not sure these guys fully understand that it's us Boomers now collecting social security. My generation organized mass demonstrations throughout the 60's/70's.Most of us played nice back then, but some of us didn't.Try to steal our social security? It may not be pretty is all I'm sayin'.

I agree. All the protests and resistance meetings I go to are jam-packed with us old people. It may be that at our age we feel more free to talk back, take risks, be impolite. I would've been standing up at the Kennedy Center, giving Vance two big thumbs down.

I am flying from Sacramento, CA on April 4th to attend Hands Off/Indivisible rally in DC on the 5th. As you say, I think mass mobilization, like the protests in the 60's & 70's is important. 71 and traveling alone. Looking to connect with a group in DC to attend rally if you have any suggestions.

@indivisiblesac.bsky.social I am in Sacramento and am going to Washington DC for the Hands Off protest on April 5th. I am 71 and prefer to join others for the trip/rally. Can you suggest ways to connect with others in Sacramento/California going to Washington DC in April? Thanks!

Thanks for getting back to me. I bought my airline ticket to Washington DC yesterday, hotel etc. I am reaching out to local organizations regarding meeting up with others for the rally on the 5th. Also making time for the Smithsonian,on my “bucket list “ I get it about flying, especially these days!

I loved looking into their young earnest faces, so fierce and passionate. Sounds like you and I were on the same march from Southside Park. Possible to exchange emails to keep one another updated on upcoming protests/events? I am not often on social media and sometimes miss important ones.

So true.Lots of grey hair at our protests. Although at the March 5th protest, I marched with students which was very enjoyable as I am a retired community college teacher. I go to the protests because I can't not go. Although marching at 71 is a lot different than at 18: Where's a chair? 😀

I agree.More of our community in Sacramento should protest. But I want to resist blaming my fellow Americans: they voted for Trump, they are uninformed and apathetic. The real threat to our democracy is the MAGA minority who has taken our country hostage. This is the enemy I want to remain focused on.

The Americans I know are shocked, angry, and depressed by the chaos and corruption. We are grieving the loss of our democracy. But there are a limited number of ways to show our outrage. I go to protests in my community but wonder about their effectiveness. We are not to blame for this thuggery.

Every Democrat during the State of the Union needs to determine his or her best strategy for communicating to Americans that our democracy is under attack. Drown out Trump every time he lies with boos and chants. Turn your backs. Hold signs declaring opposition to Putin and Musk. Don't be silent.

I remember my mom reading The Feminine Mystique in the front seat of our station wagon during another endless Sunday drive in Southern California while my dad listened to a ball game on the radio and my brother and I played Crazy Eights in back.I realize now that she was seething, plotting her escape

When I was a child in the late 1950’s,my “Aunt” Helen (family friend),mother of two young children, was in a wheelchair due to polio. I remember the school nurse giving me a sugar cube vaccine for polio. These should only be the dim memories of an old person (like me,like RFK),not a looming danger.

I loved Trixie Belden books as a girl and had forgotten all about her until I saw your post. She and Nancy Drew were my favorites. Those early books told me it was good for girls to be smart, independent and resourceful.

💙📚 My grandfather, a coal miner in Scotland in the 1920s and passionate union organizer, told me to read this one when I was 15. Now,at 70, I still live by his influence: read books, never cross a picket line.

Also The Electric Acid Kool-Aid Test. One of those “underground” books we read in high school back in the 60’s.

💙📚 Read this one when I was a junior in high school,1971. Two years later,hitch-hiked alone across Canada.Jumped off a freight train in Glacier National Forest. Thought I was an invincible girl and I guess I was. Never hurt. Thanks for the inspiration,Jack Kerouac.

💙📚 Thank goodness for Scholastic Books. The teacher would give us order sheets every month and my mom would allow me to order 2-3 books at a time. I was a little girl in the 1960's growing up in the suburbs of conservative Orange County, California. Hungry for a heroine.

I haven't watched one TV newscast since the election. I do crave the quiet and solace of books, though: Manhattan Beach by Jennifer Egan, discovered Lucia Berlin's short stories A Manual for Cleaning Women, reading The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Mostly escape fiction but also On Tyranny by Snyder.
