If you've hiked in Indiana recently, you've likely seen these two and may have thought they were the same species. The first is squirrel corn (Dicentra canadensis), whose flowers form a heart. The second is Dutchman's breeches (D. cucullaria), whose flowers look like pantaloons. #nativeplants

Participate in a weed wrangle: invasive species cause untold damage to our ecosystem and crowd out natives. Check with your local natural area for a garlic mustard pull or honeysuckle removal event.

Plant keystone native species: even if you only have a small space, you can make an impact! Choose keystone species, like our native oaks, maples, goldenrods, and asters to support the most wildlife.

Stay on the trails! One of the best ways to learn about native plants is by observing them in their natural environments. Many of these plants can be easily trampled though, so stay on marked trails.
