See? Not so difficult to figure out a Mother's Day present! *repeatedly looks out the window, impatiently waiting for the cabin to appear* #FolkloreSunday #MothersDay

There's no doubt real cunning and wise folk have been a force of resistance against snake-oil salesmen for centuries but it can be hard to tell who is who sometimes, and charlatan fairy doctors -often known today as health gurus- still exist. Beware. #educateyourself #NonViolentResistance #resist ✊

Genuine question: why do they announce these things? I mean, the heads up has us freaked, sure but it also galvanizes urgent legal response that may stop it, so why bother? Is it a public flag/signal to their people on the "ground"? Eg "now in phase X, get ready"?

Before pills and prescriptions, there were bone setters, blood stoppers, and cunning folk. They used spider webs to clot wounds, onion poultices for coughs, and prayers to mend hearts and limbs. Not doctors, not witches—just folk. #FolkyFriday

Dandelions weren’t always weeds. In old folk belief, blowing the seeds could carry wishes or reveal the name of a future lover. Root for tea, leaf for blood, flower for joy—the dandelion is a whole apothecary in disguise. #FolkloreThursday 🎨Krysten Tapwell

A dreamy painting of a dandelion puff against a swirling turquoise and blue background. One delicate seed floats away on the breeze, drifting toward the upper right corner. The scene evokes a sense of movement, calm, and quiet possibility, with soft brushstrokes creating a gentle, airy atmosphere.

About the theme "tyrants" for #TolkienTrewsday #TolkienTuesday, I was struck by parts about refusal to study bitter history for "breeding useless regret", and how Gandalf spent years researching to understand about the Ring. I've seen those contrasting attitudes many times regarding history.

I very much agree! 💖 Fairy tales remain ever-relevant. #FolkloreAsResistance

Gosh - what an excellent story about the of abuse of power. Too often when favor turns sour and a person with power/wealth (or a regime) targets someone, they become the societal equivalent of a wyrm. I wish I could think of the equivalent of the Fairy Queen in today's clime.

I love this idea that even ghosts can have a redemption arc/become better people, er, ghosts.

That's somehow simultaneously delightful and gross.

(The illustration is by Stefano Bianchetti.) Re curses, it may suggest that curses can be mitigated by community, something we should take to heart today. Making the effort to care for, and be responsible for each other, and especially for children, can reduce harm of forces acting against us/them.

This makes it extra-clear why catching sight of yourself in a mirror is so unnerving... fetch or reflection? The idea of doubles of ourselves, whether doppelganger, reflection, fetch, or identical twins that are super-bonded really challenges the idea that we are unique with one life for one person.

What the crap is the new Homeland Security Task Force, created on Jan 20 this year??? This whole EO reads very much like a version of Martial Law.

Apologies. Thank you for the correction.

Did not expect to see chocolate turtles as metaphors for civil rights but here I am. Wishing you the restoration of your chocolate turtles ASAP!

Yeah. Same BUT see my next reply to Frank above. We are not a xerox of Germany & have more ability to stop it. The bad news is we're going to need a LOT of people to do it and too many are either asleep or paralyzed. The good news is it is changing but that window the US has over history is closing.

020

Reality sucks..BUT Germany then is not America now. We have the world's oldest democracy & MANY millions more people that, if activated on all fronts, could stop this from getting full blown/irreversible w/out another coup. We just gotta get people out en masse before military are forced to choose.

Historians think so but it's not completely verified. It's a sad story about forbidden love with a Jewish woman, being drafted for it then KIA. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/August_...

And it has to be a criminal warrant, not an administrative one. The admin warrant does not allow entry into private spaces.

🤬🤬🤬 Instead of demoralizing the military, I hope this fires them up to oppose this regime en masse. I know T doesn't respect the military but for someone who needs them, he's treating vets, service members, their families & support appallingly. Not even pretense of carrots, just sticks/ICE. 💥

!!! Why is this happening to military families??!!! How are they a threat? Isn't this even more obviously kidnapping???

And to be "Marthas"... 😩 I hate that every female now has to take this agenda into account in their life planning and dreams, instead of just living their most authentic and unique life. It feels illegal and I hate that there's a question as to whether it is or not.

030

Yep. You're right. Pro-control.

This is vile. How is this allowed under the Constitution?? There are laws about minors - don't they cover all children in the country? Can't the ACLU step in? If not, can Amnesty International get involved??

000

The term pro-life is so misleading. They're only pro-birth.

Yes to pretty much all the comments so I'm going to throw in something else: How does this literal image ⬆️ work with the "Make America Hot Again" movement?

020

Is he talking about children's fertility???

G. Thornton @inkgypsy.bsky.social · 22/04/2025

My understanding is to make it as difficult as possible to get them out - the distance is on purpose, so that a lawyer, family members and other supporters can't easily access them/advocate for them and pressure ICE to follow the law. Truly awful.

The cynic in me replies: because they want people to become garbage too, so we're more disposable, more ignorable, less disruptive and less obviously due human rights...

Thank you! - was looking for a comment along these lines! Yes - practicing manners when "nobody" is watching, helps you naturally use manners when people are. + I think it'd be awesome if people got less "service" if not polite. (Saves money, right?) Politeness = better service/maximum dollar worth
