Thousands of years later, we're still primitive, fighting over which religion is right, which race is superior, which identity is the chosen one, and who's worthy. As if love, kindness, and forgiveness are a currency we own.

When I was young, a friend and I visited a monastery for old wine and ancient wisdom. A monk said the difference between the wise and the ignorant is how they react to those who harmed them: with kindness and compassion, or arrows and knives? With forgiveness and perspective, or revenge?

Insurance loss ratios once around 90%, 10 cents of every premium dollar was profit. Now near 50%, half the rising premiums fund profits, jets, executive pay. Same with oil, food, supplies, consumer products: higher prices are pure profit. This is wealth transfer from the public to a few oligarchs.

Character isn't revealed in the ease of bright days, but in the steady grace with which you respond when someone reaches out and every eye is upon you.

Hello to the brave who speak what they do, and do what they say. May your courage be met with kindness, your honesty with trust and the world reward your integrity more times than it tests it. May you find people who hear your words for the promises they are.

When reality as it exists is invisible to the eye, truth doesn’t matter, and our perception of the world around us and others becomes muddied.

Discernment is not simply the sorting and sifting of the information we receive; it is the clear awareness of how our actions shape our relationships. Better not speak of love, before the verb. Better not speak of presence, before the gaze.

The more we look outward at the state of our world, the deeper we must look inward at our own roles, not only to understand our place in the larger picture, but to act with meaning, integrity, and compassion.

The reason MAGA doubles down when faced with truths is that it takes a great deal of courage, grace, and love to reflect honestly, detached from “buts,” “ifs,” and “about‑isms.” That kind of authenticity is a lot of uncomfortable work. And in reality, we're all guilty of this type of laziness.

A wise person once said, “You can’t save them from themselves.” Ain’t that the truth? Their consequences appear in their harvest, their offspring, and in their reflection at the hour of reckoning.

If a passing "have a good day" undoes you while a poem leaves you cold, you’ve mistaken sentiment for soul, you feel the wrapper, not the thing inside. One who is undone by routine yet unmoved by the lived truth of a poem knows the noise of feeling but not its music.

There's no problem without solution. No mistake without correctness. No question without an answer. No darkness without dawn. No doubt without discovery. And no lock without a key. Back to the start.

Approach to understand, not to own, nor to control. We enjoy the beauty, the fruits, the water and the atmosphere. The garden isn't owned, it is attended to.
