A still of Duane Jones, in the role of Ben, in Romero’s original & seminal 1968, Night of the Living Dead.

In the black and white image, Jones wearing a light button up shirt and is leaning forward in conversation while holding a wooden furniture leg.

Checking that dude’s profile and it’s giving some real “sea lion-ing” vibes. Here’s the sea lion comic and link JIC: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sealion...
Wondermark’s “Sea Lioning” comic, where a sea lion purposefully undermines, diminishes, and complicates a discussion when he’s not wanted and is basically trying to be annoying in order to play victim when others are justifiably annoyed with him.

See link to the Wiki for full explanation.

From article linked in post: “The Emperor is a fan of Flock, and we must continue utilizing Flock technologies so that we can follow and surveil the rebel scum as they move from playground to playground; from playground to pool; from pool to gymnasium,” Mr. Vader said.

“Because we all know that the Flock cameras are not only following the license plate readers, they are following children. They are following children in parks and gymnasiums. And we need this. I need this so I can stalk my ex-girlfriend,” the Dark Lord continued.”

This stupid set up is why most any product of current day US sucks. It's ruined much of our landscape. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...
Thanks to activist investors, many company executives face what feels like “gun-to-the-head pressure to maximize shareholder returns”, or be fired, she said.

[highlighted paragraph]
Shareholder activism targeting CEOs has more than quadrupled since 2018, a December 2025 report by the Conference Board found. Consumer-facing industries have seen “particularly large spikes” in shareholder campaigns that focus on making sure investors get more money.

Meanwhile, corporate profits hit an all-time high in the first quarter of 2025, of $3.9tn on an annualized basis.

The fact that this weirdo STILL doesn't understand what"asylum seeker" means, has to mean something, right? Right? newrepublic.com/post/209590/...
Quote from part of recent CBS interview with Trump:

“They emptied our prisons into our country. They have mental institutions, insane asylums, into our country. And I don’t know if that’s controversial to say we have to move those people out, but we have and, but it is from the standpoint you’re doing something and you’re doing something that’s good,” he said. “Things like, men playing in women’s sports, I’m against it. Things like transgender for everyone. I’m against that. There’s so many things that I’m against. I don’t think they’re controversial. I think the other side is controversial, but I do a lot of things and I get things done.”

Peak bluesky feed.
A photo of 2 Bluesky posts. The first, a post from Yuh-Line Niou, says:

“Just so people on bluesky are aware…I was very early bluesky and I very much actively followed every dog account I could find that signed up and now when I open bluesky I basically am given pure dog content straight to the brain stream every time. I am proposing everyone else do this. The end.”

Directly below is a post from Dave Leviton that says, “The spring enjoyer” above a photo of what is very obviously a “very good boy” in the form of a golden retriever, who is described thusly in the ALT:

“Tesco the golden retriever lies on a porch outside, with sun and shadows streaming over her, smiling up at the camera like the happiest girl alive. Her favorite blue and orange ball is between her paws.”

“you get it. you get the themes. i dont have time to do it justice. just look at it its on the ceiling”

Beneath is a Bsky post from "Eleanor from outside":

Image:

In the midst of this, I'm trying to research and manage...other things that are crushing. Why? Because I won't have health care next week and my health care doesn't have anyone on staff who can help with this anyway. DIY cPTSD, too many letters. (from Beauty After Bruises, "What is cPTSD?")
Another important thing to know is that the trauma to children resulting in C-PTSD (as well as dissociative disorders) is usually deeply interpersonal within that child's caregiving system. Separate from both the traumatic events and the perpetrator, there is often an added component of neglect, hot-and-cold affections from a primary caregiver, or outright invalidation of the trauma if a child does try to speak up. These disorganized attachments and mixed messages from those who are supposed to provide love, comfort and safety - all in the periphery of extreme trauma - can give way to even more unique struggles that PTSD-sufferers alone don't always face.

With the following part highlighted (by me, for reasons) in black:
"neglect, hot-and-cold affections from a primary caregiver, or outright invalidation of the trauma if a child does try to speak up."

Say hello to my cat’s cat’s cat’s cat… That she picked out from a seedy rental’s front yard and pair-bonded with through the screen door. He’s on the right & she’s on the left.
Two 1.5 year old kittens look at the camera, while resting loaf-style on a grey cube-style ottoman on a cranberry colored Turkish rug.

The cat on the left, Finn, is a tawny ocicat, lighter than the traditional tabby, with large ears and piercing jade green, almond shaped eyes that sparkle with intelligence.

The cat on the right, Cassaday, is a warmly toned tabby with oddly large green eyes and a sweet, curious expression.

They take up every single inch of the ottoman, like 2 loaves of bread resting against each other. Overhead view of the same kittens taking up the entirety of a small cube-style ottoman.

Levitsky called this quite clearly: www.npr.org/2025/04/22/n...
Lower paragraph reads: But if the executive weaponizes these agencies, whether it's the SEC or the FCC, they can turn into not only weapons to punish, say, businesses or media companies they don't like, but to induce them to cooperate. So if there are, you know, millions, billions of dollars at stake and businesses know that key regulatory decisions are going to be made with politics in mind, then businesses and CEOs are going to behave accordingly. They're going to cooperate with the government. They're going to try to get on better terms with the government.

A great piece from the always great M Gessen. They are a gift in the current era.
Whatever the scale, totalism offers “fixity and definiteness and absoluteness,” Lifton said — qualities that humans seek, sometimes desperately. In times of dislocation, whether physical or psychic, we are particularly vulnerable to the call of totalism, which promises not only an unassailable theory of everything but also something to do. Totalism, he observed, is mobilizing: It propels participants toward acting in the name of their ideology. Decades later, he saw Trumpism as a totalist movement that promised to envelop its participants in a secure, closed universe of lies.

"Earlier this week—in a story that reads as a perfect encapsulation of abuses by Trump’s immigration enforcement—masked ICE agents roughed up and detained a 71-year-old U.S. citizen volunteering as a legal observer to monitor them at a federal courthouse in San Diego.

Grandmother Barbara Stone says she was documenting the detention of asylum-seekers with the group “Detention Resistance” at San Diego’s immigration court when she was baselessly accused of pushing an officer. Multiple masked agents then pursued Stone, grabbed and handcuffed her (leaving bruises), confiscated her phone and purse, and detained her for over eight hours, she says.

Once Stone was released, ICE returned her bag but kept possession of her phone. Why? Stone says an ICE agent compared the situation to “a drug bust where they keep a drug dealer’s phone because I had used it in the crime.”

But the only “crime” of which Stone says she’s guilty is documenting immigration enforcement. If this is true, the episode would track with other apparent attempts by ICE agents to avoid accountability of late, for instance, by wearing masks so they can conduct raids and arrests anonymously."

Greta Thunberg is asked how Palestinian freedom "connects to or intersects with" climate change activism:
"For me there is no way of distinguishing the 2. We cannot have climate justice w/out social justice. The reason why I am a climate activist is not because I want to protect trees. I'm a climate activist because I care about human & planetary well-being, & those are extremely interlinked. For example, when we see the genocide in Gaza, of course, there are some very obvious links, that ecocide, environmental destruction is a very common method used in war & to oppress people."
