Wiggling on the ground. Hmm. The IS7 trailer looks pretty fascinating. Traces of my beloved IS4 horror vibes. Perhaps I will check it out.

Kinda like how the new labyrinth space looks. If anything, Endfield’s been really good at pulling off mildly unsettling spaces like this

PS. A segment in paragraph 3 of the Sohati section is somehow missing from the EN loc of the lore book. It mentions that after the Catastrophe, Varuhitar left Terra and never returned. Did it go back to Talos-II? Was the Catastrophe it triggered the reason the gate fell into disrepair?
A line that was missing from the Sohati section in the Sami chapter of Terra: A Journey.

"Later, the great feathered beast regained its sight and clarity of mind. Heartbroken over the lost egg and filled with regret over hurting the Father of Ancestral Spirits, it left Terra without looking back."
010
infy❅ @infygremlin.bsky.social · 22/02/2026
this Varuhitar was also Talosian in origin. Judging from the egg's description, it's likely actually Originium, and the myth describes how Varuhitar served as the medium through which the proliferation of Originium on Terra first began.
100
infy❅ @infygremlin.bsky.social · 22/02/2026
So what's been bugging me is the identity of the flying entity Varuhitar. Given the setting of the storyーthat is, the early age of human settlement in Terra, in the northern landsーplus the assumption that Terra was completely uninhabited when the Talosians first arrived there, it's likely that

infy❅ @infygremlin.bsky.social · 22/02/2026
The lore book presented its own hypothesis as to what true events this legend was actually recounting, but we'll disregard that for the moment since it was written without any knowledge of the cosmic gate, which the book's POV character couldn't have known about.

in the process when the egg's burning pieces fell out of the sky and landed on it, forcing into a long sleep to recover from the damage. The egg's pieces lay scattered upon the land, attracting the attention of collapsals.
100
infy❅ @infygremlin.bsky.social · 22/02/2026
So the story goes that, at the time when humans first arrived in Terra, a flying entity known as Varuhitar laid a scorching egg that exploded in the sky and called forth a Catastrophe. Sami (the feranmut) protected the Terrans by shielding them with its body, but suffered terrible wounds

Hmm Thinking about the Sohati section in the lore book and what it might mean in the context of Talos-II gate's story

The factory's grip remains powerful I see 😂 But yeah, no rush, the big rift boss battle can be a bit of a hassle, so it's good to be prepared and handle each area step by step👍

Hiiiii, it truly has been a while! Dang, time really flies 😂 Yeah, Endfield is,,,not a game I would recommend for the story, unfortunately 😔 Hopefully the future chapters are more polished, I am praying 🙏 How far in are you? If anything, the story improves (a bit) once you get out of Valley IV...!

I understand the throwback in making Pog's attack animation's colours the same as Hellagur's However I can't help wondering if the devs are cackling to themselves like. Very well. You want to play as the seasoned war veteran. We shall remove your ability to see enemy attack warning indicators.
A screenshot of a battle in Arknights: Endfield. The player character's attacks have red effects, the exact same colour as the enemy's attack warning indicator.

Damn, it's that bad, huh... To be fair, there's a point where fixing the thing gets too expensive, so I can understand why they just moved on. On one hand, it's a bit of a shame that the opening stretch is subpar, but then again Chapter 2 did show significant improvements, so that's a good sign.

infy❅ @infygremlin.bsky.social · 21/02/2026
Given how much they're selling the "terrible things are happening up north" angle, it's pretty much a given that it's gonna be an important part of the main story, but hrmmm it makes no sense to bring the party there to soon. But still.

I'm gonna be real honest with y'all, Pog and the factory are doing the whole work of keeping my interest in Endfield, but the real reason I'm here is the whiff of a hint of a promise of MORE Sami lore

Me in 2024: (sigh) Guess I'll never find a way to work Hellagur into my icefield plot... They don't have any lore connection at all :/ The year 2026:
One of Pogranichnik's voice log entries mention the Samifjod who have settled in Talos-II. He mentions they seem to have found a way to embrace their new life there while preserving their heritage.

I appreciate the amount of thought that went into the factory spaces. Each area has their own unique BGM, so the vibe of each AIC/PAC is different. I live in the Valley IV AIC most of the time, but the Qingbo Stockade PAC is my chill out spot. You can hear animal sounds here!

tl;dr - Generally a fun enough game, but for story appreciators (especially players coming in from OG AK), it may be a hit-or-miss. Very nice to look at though.
010
infy❅ @infygremlin.bsky.social · 21/02/2026
-The pacing at the start due to the number of back-to-back-to-back tutorials was abysmal. To be fair this is something the player only has to do once, but not gonna lie, the introduction of the first slew of factory+combat tutorials can use some work.
100
infy❅ @infygremlin.bsky.social · 21/02/2026
PS. To be fair, the tone of the main story improves considerably in chapter 2, so hopefully that's more telling of the direction they'll take with chapter 3.
100
infy❅ @infygremlin.bsky.social · 21/02/2026
At this point I suspect this is a deliberate decision since Endfield in general seems to aim for a lighter atmosphere than OG AK, which is, you know, their call to make, but it's a bit disappointing nevertheless since AK's ability to treat events with gravitas is one of my favourite things about it.

plot (humanity on Talos-II are holding but running out of options to deal with the Aggeloi/Aether/etc. threat) and its actual execution (Valley IV's cutscenes are...very sanitized for the amount of destruction that's mentioned to have happened).

infy❅ @infygremlin.bsky.social · 21/02/2026
People like to rag on OG AK's opening chapters for being a slog (personally untrue, I found them quite riveting), but they ain't got shit on Endfield's intro. It's got too many individual problems to list imo, but the end result is there's some strange dissonance between the urgency implied by the

infy❅ @infygremlin.bsky.social · 21/02/2026
The cons: -Let's just start with the biggest reason my feelings about Endfield is mixed: the story is. Look. I don't wanna be too harsh, bcs it's /functional/, but by the gods, the entire Valley IV arc is one of the least engaging opening chapters I'd ever had the misfortune to sit through.

with the factory system. Hands down the most engaging and fun part of the game. Endfield's open world RPG segment is the sidequest for me, I play this game mostly for the experience of watching product boxes move along transport belts to the sound of industrial ASMR.
100
infy❅ @infygremlin.bsky.social · 21/02/2026
quick, but the combat itself plays very fluidly so hm, it's not too bad. The sound work and animations are amazing tho, now that's just a real treat. -The factory system is. Well. Listen, I've clocked like 101 hours in Endfield, and around at least 70% of that must've been just me screwing around
100
infy❅ @infygremlin.bsky.social · 21/02/2026
-The combat system's very standard for an open world action RPG; whether this is good or bad depends on the player's preferences. It took a bit of time for me to warm up to it, but it gets more engaging the more familiar I got with each character's kit. Unsurprisingly the go-to combos can get stale
100
infy❅ @infygremlin.bsky.social · 21/02/2026
the sheer amount of attention given to the motion design of the UI, like holy shit, so many of their screen transition animations have a smaller transition animation for each individual information node or image. Insane.
110
infy❅ @infygremlin.bsky.social · 21/02/2026
First off, my impressions of the game's very...mixed tbh. The pros: -It's a very polished game, especially visually. It carries on with AK's tradition of being a Very Nice Game in a sensory sense: the graphics, aesthetics, UI, combat animations, sound design, etc. are on point. I especially love
