A post claiming that foreign nationals in Johannesburg have formed self-defence units ahead of 30 June is false & uses an old video taken out of context. The original footage was filmed in 2019 & shows members of the SAPS & JMPD coming under attack while responding to a protest in Johannesburg.

CINIA is excited to announce its latest collaboration with Code For Africa and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Between June and November, CINIA will be working with two honours students who will undergo rigorous training in fact checking for digital content and produce monthly checks.
