chat do I try reinstalling Gate to Sovngarde now that my power supply issue is fixed and I won't kill my pc trying to play it?

kinda sad that Code Vein 2 decided to go with the "make it so graphically intensive the average pc struggles to run it on low" because it means my below-average pc just cannot run it at all.

the funniest part is that you unlock GENUINELY ONE OF THE SICKEST REVEALS IN GAMING halfway through so you get to do that then finish the worst level in all of video games right after

y'know overall i like code vein but replaying through the cathedral and i always forget how they somehow created the worst level in all of video games and stuck it 5 hours in.

but strangely enough this is probably something that should be established per-table in session 0. firmly establish whether or not the table fails forward, never truly fails, or if outright failure is possible.

I think it ultimately depends? I feel like there's a sort of keyfabe going on at most tables where, even if failure is never going to happen, the APPEARANCE of failure being possible is always at least desired. hence why many players feel "cheated" if they find out the GM fudges dice in their favor.

Dawnsbury Days featured in the Party-Based RPG Steam Fest this week, and I understand for some players it featured on Steam homepage or close to it, and over 2,000 new players have now wishlisted the game. That is amazing! Welcome, everyone!

this only really works if you subscribe to the transmasc jace headcanon, of course.

it's no secret that thalia is my favorite mtg character and guardian of thraben is my favorite card ever so while it is nice seeing new cards of her I must ask why they didn't just reprint GoT again. or like. why'd they make her symmetrical??? and four mana????

*on the stack* so Paradigm creating the copy in exile still dodges Parnisse. weird, weird mechanic overall, but the ultimate effect is still the same? I'm pretty sure??

🏳️‍⚧️ Morgan of the Dark Moon 🏳️‍⚧️ @indycrow.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
yeah even worse digging into it I think my specific explanation was slightly incorrect too, because Paradigm is WEIRD. paradigm seems to want to refer back to the original spell object rather than the card which is now in exile? but "When you copy a spell" triggers only care about creating the copy-
120
🏳️‍⚧️ Morgan of the Dark Moon 🏳️‍⚧️ @indycrow.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
that would be correct. a spell is specifically a game object that is on the stack. when you copy a *card* with Paradigm, for example, you are not copying a spell since the game sees it as a card and not a spell until it's on the stack.

(in the family group chat): that wont matter. without radical change all of this is meaningless in fifteen years. we have no idea how dire things are (in the communist group chat): they should make a turn based final fantasy again with the two minute summon animations

only downside is if you're strapped for cash early on (esp level 1) bastard *is* twice the price of a great but that said Bastard Sword + Buckler is a GOATed combo for having access to a shield, athletics actions, and a d12 weapon with minimal action costs

but also the open, flat spaces of the nightlord arenas and the in-world nature of night bosses really highlites how much better the experience of a from boss is when they have a bespoke arena. like we saw this in bloodborne's chalice dungeons, and it's not much better here.

the switch to simplified builds dictated by your character choice isn't bad, and feeds the "use what you find" gameplay loop quite well. but at the same time I can FEEL how much better I play in the runs I get a weapon class i'm used to.

Timers in games are good! they are good game design! but I also learned a long time ago that I actually kinda personally hate having the game dictate its pace to me. I like being able to sit down and plan out my next move.

nightreign is very fascinating to me as a longtime enjoyer of from software's cataloged because it is very clearly and starkly Not For Me but I'm enjoying it anyway, almost entirely on the back of playing it with a close friend.

haven't watched this one yet but it does always ASTOUND me the amount of patience the hosts have to have. even moreso when a normally very calm host (like Forrest) ends up going off on a caller because of how patient they ALL are.

Geez, if the Pf2e books said you should handle exploration mode in 10 min increments, just like classic D&D, that whole discourse from yesterday would feel so silly Oh, wait
Exploration mode is handled by 10 min increments

I guess the reason I felt the need to chime in in the first place was that I know how much context and moving parts there are to the system. it basically DEMANDS some degree of system mastery from its players, which I appreciate, but I can also see where it might be a turnoff for some people.

that's completely fair! to me it appeals to the fantasy of *being* that prepared adventurer, of having thought ahead and anticipated the problems you might face. much in the same way I enjoy Vancian spellcasting. it's not for everyone, it *can't* be, but it does have its place imo.

that's not really been my experience with 2e, personally. you can take feats and investment to make them better, of course, and there's likely something to say for trained vs higher proficiencies at higher level, but I can't personally think of a case where a skill is unusable without an extra feat.

had my players Climb more than 10 feet. if you're putting 40 foot cliffs into every home game, sure, I guess, but Climbing is very much the sort of problem you're supposed to find solutions for *before* you stand in front of the wall.

devil's advocate because I do personally adore the system tho I agree it can definitely feel egregious: you're supposed to prepare to mitigate climbing's difficulty. bring a climbing kit to negate the crit fail, use spells and abilities that grant a climb speed, understand that Climb usually uses...

one of my favorite #ttrpg tricks as a gm is literally just gaslighting. in VTTs I often like to have a "Loading Screen" scene where I can drop players while I get stuff ready, and I love putting little tip messages that subtly change each time I use it, until they're directly addressing the players.
