Area Musicians Plan “Rock the Vote” Concert Rock the Vote, a concert and community event designed to focus attention on the Nov. 3 election, will take place from 1-4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 4 on the grounds of The Barn, Brookside Farm, Niantic.

10.4.26. Rock the Vote. 33 Society Rd. Niantic. The event is free and open to the public, with a suggested donation of $10. Proceeds will cover the cost of the event and anything left over will be donated to the Brookside Farm.
Connecticut early voting is October 19– November 1. Absentee ballots will be issued beginning October 2. Election day is Nov. 3.

Lorenzo and his wife arrived in America decades ago, after meeting as teenagers in Mexico and deciding to relocate, in hopes of a better quality of life for the family they sought to build. Over those years, he started his own business and became a father of three. He had no criminal record. His son describes him as a quiet man, who rose with the sun to get to work, and loved to pet his dog and listen to music. His family shared that he was nearly finished gaining legal citizenship after 35 years.

On July 7th, as Lorenzo was driving his homebuilding crew to a job site, he was shot and killed by ICE agents during a traffic stop. DHS states that agents involved in his death were not wearing body-cams, a death that the Medical Examiner for Harris County has ruled a homicide. A quote shared by Lorenzo's son, Ronaldo, reads, "He did not deserve to be reduced to a headline of 'Mexican man shot and killed by ICE...He deserved to live a quiet life as Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, a husband, a father, and a job creator for dozens of men who also wanted the American dream."
