Indivisible Butte is compelled to rebuke the latest false accusations from Senator Tim Sheehy. Our group practices our Constitutionally guaranteed right and responsibility to assemble and call out our government officials when we see illegal and unethical actions. He betrays his oath of office when he tries to undermine our First Amendment rights. Indivisible Butte works to provide the community-building and leadership he fails to perform. It is disgraceful that an elected official would willfully and knowingly lie about his constituents or their rights.

Senator Sheehy lies when he claims that Indivisible Groups across the country are communist insurgents paid by dark money to tear the US apart. Thousands of his constituents participate in Indivisible groups, and he has never directly talked with any of us in a town hall. He does not care about what Indivisible groups actually do for our communities.
Butte’s grassroots Indivisible chapter’s mission is to defeat the current regime’s autocratic agenda and Project 2025, and to help build our community, our democracy, and a better America for generations to come.
Our commitment to this mission and our community can be documented by the more than 2000 pounds of food and over $3500 donated directly to our local food banks and pantries. We work to increase our community’s civic engagement through our volunteer work: nonpartisan voter registration, advancing citizen initiatives, and helping other nonprofit, nonpartisan groups to improve the quality of life for our neighbors and community.
All our expenses are paid by us and our members. While we do this work passionately and without pay, Senator Sheehy ignores the needs of his constituents. He votes to make healthcare more unaffordable and give massive tax cuts to the ultra-rich. He works to make voting harder for Montanans based on the practically nonexistent cases of voter fraud.

We regularly and repeatedly TRY to communicate with our elected officials, including Senator Sheehy. We call. We write. We request town halls. They’ve responded with only silence or canned talking points.

As we approach the 250th anniversary of our nation demanding its liberty, we are reminded that freedom is both a right and an assignment. Benjamin Franklin’s cautionary aside “a republic, if we can keep it” emphasizes that democracy requires its citizens to maintain it. Indivisible Butte works to maintain and preserve this republic and our freedoms. We act daily to support and uphold the values enshrined in our Constitution.
Senator Sheehy has sworn to uphold and defend the US Constitution multiple times: when he entered the Naval Academy, as a Navy Seal, and as a US Senator. He KNOWS what he said about Indivisible groups is simply not true. His dangerous lies attempt to silence citizens’ voices and show his willingness to ignore the Constitution if it is inconvenient for him.

Our friends with Service Employees International Union SEIU 775 are organizing a protest for the Families First national day of action. Let's join them and raise our voices together!

The Big Bad Bill is a $4.5 trillion theft from working families of every race. It guts Medicaid, SNAP, child care, and higher education, while enriching ICE, polluters, and the ultra-rich. It rips apart the foundation our families rely on to survive, especially in Black, brown, immigrant, and low-income communities. Meanwhile, the same politicians hand billions in tax breaks to greedy corporations and billionaires. They've made their choice. WE choose each other. WE choose families.
