“We are demanding that ICE release all available body camera footage, dash camera footage, and other recordings of this incident. For now, Wilber remains here while his case moves forward. We will continue fighting for his safety, his medical care, due process, and accountability.” 🧵 3/4

WE ARE DEMANDING: Immediate restoration of Wilber's communication privileges. An appropriate medical bed. Adequate medical treatment and pain management. And ultimately, Wilber's release from ICE custody so he can recover with appropriate medical care and the support of his family.

WILBER'S FEDERAL CASE IS PENDING. Our legal team has filed a federal habeas case seeking his release and protection from removal. A hearing is scheduled for next week. We are continuing to fight for Wilber's release.

WE ARE GRATEFUL FOR THE SUPPORT. Congressman Joaquín Castro's office and Congressman Greg Casar's office have helped advocate for Wilber and his medical care. We will continue pushing for answers, accountability, adequate medical treatment, and Wilber's release.

THEN HE LOST MOVEMENT IN HIS ARM. Wilber's condition became serious enough that a nurse determined he needed to return to the hospital. He was transported there around 5:00 p.m. Monday. We do not yet know whether his loss of movement is related to spinal injury, severe pain, or another complication from the shooting.

HE WAS TRANSPORTED IN FULL RESTRAINTS. Despite his gunshot wound and injuries, Wilber was: Handcuffed. Shackled at the ankles. Placed in a waist chain. He was also handled roughly during the transfer to the hospital.

AT THE HOSPITAL, HE FINALLY RECEIVED STRONGER PAIN RELIEF. Doctors spoke directly with Wilber about his medical care. He was given IV morphine and was finally comfortable. But around midnight, he was discharged and returned to ICE detention in Pearsall.

TODAY, HE IS BACK IN ISOLATION. Wilber is back at Pearsall. He is on a flat bed that cannot be medically adjusted. He is receiving Tylenol and ibuprofen for pain. His tablet has not been returned, leaving him without the communication access he previously had.
