indigo @indigoastrid.bsky.social · 28/09/2026thinking about how i found a DVD of "Filthy McNasty" in a record store in Pittsburgh when i was visiting and didn't buy it. even though i have been trying to offload a lot of random crap i have, i still regret not buying it. very unusual to find a physical copy of something like that for me 010
indigo @indigoastrid.bsky.social · 21/09/2026i have been playing shining force 1 for the first time and i just got to this part! i'm really enjoying it, i was only slightly aware of these games at best until recently, but i recently finished shining force ii and it's one of the best games i've ever played! 110
indigo @indigoastrid.bsky.social · 03/09/2026wishing everyone a happy Shining Force September! it's that special time of year we ALL look forward to! 🫶 we'll be discussing our favourite characters and promotion options in SFII, and i'll be considering playthroughs of SFCD and SFIII! hope you all have a tactically strategy-tastic time! ♟️♟️♟️ 040
indigo @indigoastrid.bsky.social · 30/08/2026i love how much flavour text there is, i love the weird badly translated script, i love the character designs and art style, i love how things just happen in the story with no pretext, i love the little bits of worldbuilding and name drops. i should start a "Blog" to compile all of this probably... 030
indigo @indigoastrid.bsky.social · 30/08/2026i feel that in some ways like i am a fake RPG fan, because so many of the games i love (Mother, Moon, Deltarune) are about deconstructing the genre, but my experience of actual old school RPGs feels limited outside of bits and pieces of Square games. so it feels wonderful to be diving into a classic 120
indigo @indigoastrid.bsky.social · 30/08/2026the soundtrack is also amazing! i think i had some pro-Nintendian bias that the sega mega drive "sounds worse" than the SNES for example, but this is some of the best RPG music i've heard in a while! i played the game initially because my friend @kululu.bsky.social sent some of the music to me 120
indigo @indigoastrid.bsky.social · 30/08/2026one thing i really like is how characters seem to get better weapons/spells/upgrades at different rates and points, so it's always kind of ebbing and flowing as to who the "good" characters are, so for me it constantly feels really fresh, like every character (mostly) has something to contribute 120
indigo @indigoastrid.bsky.social · 30/08/2026i have been playing the game mostly like how i would have as a child, just going for it and seeing what happens! outside of looking up one or two items, i have just been absorbing how everything works and it is so much fun. i am not an SRPG head and i have found it very easy to understand so far 120
indigo @indigoastrid.bsky.social · 30/08/2026i've been playing "Shining Force II" the past few days and i absolutely love it! it's rare for me to immediately fall in love with a game very quickly these days but i am absolutely obsessed with this game, i genuinely can't stop playing it and i'm very heartened knowing there's a Shining Force III 120
indigo @indigoastrid.bsky.social · 11/07/2026no you see, when i say something is "Cloves" it's a Simpsons reference. from the "$pringfield" episode when homer makes breakfast and puts cloves in. it means that a situation that is notably austere or lacking in resources, similar to "ice soup". It also means "Clothes" because they sound similar!🙂↕️ 020
indigo @indigoastrid.bsky.social · 11/07/2026this whole "going outside and talking to people" thing is curious. they may not know about your favourite Sega Saturn games, but they do say things like "your outfit is nice" and "i love your skirt". we must conduct further anthropological analysis soon (aka going out dressed like a girl more) 060
indigo @indigoastrid.bsky.social · 11/07/2026some days you find some kind of sense of inner peace and comfort in newly discovering expressions of femininity that you disallowed yourself from exploring for so many years, and realising that much of your internal conflict is tied up in that denial and sometimes, it's just Tuesday! #Yup #Lafffing 040

indigo @indigoastrid.bsky.social · 06/07/2025i stopped playing because i ran out of room for pikmin and i didn't want to pay for storage but i also didn't want to delete any pikmin because i gave them all unique names, so now they're basically preserved in amber on my phone 030

indigo @indigoastrid.bsky.social · 16/04/2025i just beat majora's mask again and i can't stop thinking about it. it's already one of my favourite games and somehow playing it again, i appreciate it even more. i wrote out many thoughts as a thread but i accidentally closed my browser and it's gone :( so in summary, it's absolutely amazing 010

indigo @indigoastrid.bsky.social · 01/01/2025i personally think that something like moon remix rpg adventure feels like it's a point and click in SOME respects, and i suppose the "Anti-RPG" concept could be considered as something "greater" than a typical plot, but then again i suppose most of the game boils down to puzzle-solving too? 200
indigo @indigoastrid.bsky.social · 01/01/2025it's definitely a strange one because the first examples i can think of are the motorbike fighting bits full throttle and the "Monkey Kombat" bit in monkey island 4 and they both feel very ancillary/"tacked on" in a sense? (it doesn't help that they're both kind of bad lol) 100
indigo @indigoastrid.bsky.social · 21/12/2024one of the cool things if you watch the simpsons with me is that sometimes i'm like "you know the line thickness and saturation changes are really noticable in season 10" and sometimes i'm like "maggie is the baby one :DDDD". i find so much joy and wonder in the show 022
