16th Street Bridge Design Concerns Why isn't the 16th Street renovation in Indy keeping established bike/ped standards? Compare the proposed multi-use paths with the widths of 30th Street, Henry Street, Riley/16 Tech, or McCarty Street Bridge. We have an idea. Is DPW listening?

A cyclist blows a stop sign, bad for the cyclist. A motorist blows a stop sign, bad for everyone else. Stop blaming e-bikes. Advocate for safe spaces for bicycles, including protected lanes, separated lanes, bollards, trails, and more. Cars are the problem; e-bikes are part of the solution.

Trails bring economic development! Bang that drum, over and over! This quote is from Kelli Lawrence, the CEO of Ony+East, a developer who has worked on building housing developments near trails. She understands what people want and are willing to pay for - the lifestyle amenity of trails!
Newspaper clipping with the following exchange:

Q: A lot of your developments are near trails like the Monon and the Nickel Plate. How has the construction of trails over the past decade or more changed the way developers look at what is possible for a site?

A: That's our beachfront property. That's our spine. It's the lifestyle amenity. It connects you to all the great places in these suburban communities and even all the way downtown. These trail networks really connect the whole city, and it provides recreation, as well. We're seeing as a big housing trend, especially since COVID, is the focus on wellness. Being able to bike, walk, be outside is so crucial, and there's a lot of great infill opportunities along the trails.

Supporting transportation choices is more than just painting a line on a road and calling it a bike lane. It means protecting cyclists when the roads are slick, disposing of snow in places other than where pedestrians walk, and frequent bus service so that people are not waiting long in the cold.

The cultural trail is divided into two sections: walking and bicycling with a planter dividing the sections. Concrete barriers protect the trail and pathway users from the automobiles on the bridge.
