There's a guy who is apparently a "crisis accountant" in my state who I've been referred to. Not because I'm freaking about an audit, but because everyone else thinks he's the only guy who could do it local.

one of the things an accountant potential I spoke with said he didn't like was Patreon and Kickstarter telling me to declare the full funds raised rather than what was actually sent after their cut. When I said this was the majority of my income, he told me I seemed too risky for audits.

I believe this version is complete. Feedback showed some mechanics just weren't used, and this adjusts the class to where the "fun" is more front-loaded and scales well for balance.

I'm not sure where all of this goes. I think the optimistic timeline is Dark Sun being successful so D&D doesn't just start churning out random sourcebooks for IPs no one asked to turn 5E. I don't see WotC trying to innovate unless that's the result.

The combat of that trailer looks great. It also looked like a pain in the ass to try and run in D&D 5E's combat system. At minimum, you would need to switch to group initiative, but character options just fall apart when you do.

That being said, I don't think people are looking at D&D as their "hyperviolent edgy fantasy game." D&D is a fantasy war game whose characters are basically Marvel superheroes. Some variant rules on the system don't "allow" for grittier games, you genuinely need to rebuild the core.

I would imagine it would push out those who drove the ideology of the brand for the last 10 or so years. It wasn't that D&D's content has "gotten political", it's that there was an ideological critique of content sensibilities and ethics. This got to a point of sanitizing the brand.

Gotta say though, I see the next two years as the most influential toward their future projects. If Star Wars/Warcraft are their most-successful releases, D&D is going to be their new MtG style IP farm. If Dark Sun is their most-successful release? Boy, I have no idea where that goes.

I can't help but feel like Dark Sun is going to be both "not edgy enough" for crusty chud-types and "unacceptable content" for moralizing puritanicals. Down to see if they thread the needle, but WotC's track record for D&D has been horrible the last 6 years. Happy to see them age rating shit though.
