Michigan's notorious Jackson Prison had 5742 cells. It had to be broken up because it was unmanageable, too much violence, too many employees, too many inmates. This despite having many long term inmates who had an interest in a safe, clean, stable system. Giant warehouses will be a disaster.

The NFL famously resisted acknowledging CTE and player domestic abuse. That they acknowledge this shift is an unexpected, blazing indicator that MAGA has already lost. MAGA was about recentering White Christians. Even White Christians are starting to realize what they would lose (if they won).

Depressing turnout in Dem areas could affect Senate results if they target the close races. That seems the most likely way this will be attempted. Changing just one result could preserve the R majority, allowing Trump to continue packing courts, etc.

Would be more effective in the 2028 Presidential election, where they could target Dem majority areas of large cities in swing states. For the midterms, depressing turnout in a Dem district would likely mean fewer votes cast but still a Dem victory.

In rural areas, many people are segregated within their racial/ethnic/faith/orientation community. People distrust that with which they are unfamiliar. Republican fearmongering resonates more strongly among people in monocultures.
