Visit Pittsburgh, PA, then. The hotels will be cheaper and you can visit the remnants of the US Steel Industry.

I see his posts and checked that one for accuracy. It's true, but this earlier one today proclaiming "Chicago is the best city", it's a poll of elite travelers. Those are the people I don't want visiting my city, but not so much risk of that in Chico, CA. bsky.app/profile/imth...
ICYMI: Chicago was voted the Best Big City in the nation for the tenth consecutive year.

It’s a credit to what truly makes Chicago the best – the inimitable spirit of the people who call this city home.

Do your friends read Conde Nast Traveler, or: they weren't polled. If they were, then you have elite friends, so I suspect you're also an elite!

That makes the BBQ sampler more expensive than King Crab Legs at a seafood restaurant next to a hotel I frequent, but checking the prices, decided not to dine there.
Item	Typical price range
Shrimp boil (½ lb–1 lb)	$10 – $20
Crawfish or clams	$12 – $18
Snow crab legs	$25 – $35
King crab legs	$40 – $55
Combo platters (2–3 items)	$35 – $60
Fried baskets (shrimp, catfish, calamari)	$12 – $18
Sides (corn, potatoes, sausage)	$2 – $6

Prices fluctuate with seafood market costs, but most diners spend $25–$45 per person for a full boil meal with sides and drinks.

I'd suggest running that by a lawyer, who might especially mention since you've not done it yet, but expressed you will, which means you have a reason, so it's not an accident, you're so screwed.

😂 If you've noticed I've been using AI for my facts. Pretty much every one of my friends uses an AI, just for simple life-tasks types of things and loves them. My 85-yo mother just got a notice from Gemeni she might have to start paying soon, so is ☹️, because she's wealthy but THAT CHEAP!

It's the greenhouses you're heating and why you want data centers! It's how we got to them.
4. Hardware cost per BTU: who “wins”?
If your goal is just to heat a space using electricity, and you care about hardware cost per BTU:

Cheapest hardware per BTU:

Electric resistance wins on upfront hardware cost.

Best lifetime cost per BTU (still electric):

Heat pump wins because of 2–4× efficiency, even though hardware is more expensive.

Data center waste heat:

As a dedicated heater, it’s wildly uneconomical—hardware cost per BTU is enormous.

As a byproduct of necessary compute, it can be smart to capture, but you’d never build a data center just to heat a building.

The death penalty is abhorrent. That's why I'm happy California no longer does. I found it odd at the 2024 debate that didn't come up: Ms. Harris, will you execute as POTUS, and if so, exceed Mr. Trump at that, who set the modern record, executing with such abandon after losing the 2020 election.

🤔 optimized shape for solar output by architects! You still don't address the issue that heating by GPUs and RAM is so expensive, or does Canada have need for such computing power? Perhaps to analyze the Maple Syrup molecule to find more uses for it.

😂 you didn't mention the poll: Condé Nast Traveler's annual Readers’ Choice Awards! So the elites love to travel to Chicago and you treat them nice, like the elite you are! Other polls measuring "civic happiness" mention others like: San Diego, San Jose, Denver, Austin, Seattle, Portland, etc.

After NY Times didn't endorse Harris in 2024, if only for the reason Trump is a Felon in NY State, I don't read them and they'll never get a cent from me. They were complicit in his rise to power, knowing him well, like not calling out this lie propagated by the NYC media! bsky.app/profile/imth...

It doesn't take many union longshoremen to unload a tanker of diesel containing 300,000 tons. It's measured in barrels, but isn't transported in barrels any longer to be unloaded by longshoremen, like back in the days. It just takes a few to connect the hoses. bsky.app/profile/imth...

"live-streamed" doesn't mean network coverage. It also might not even happen. I expect a court to tell the Trump Administration: provide compelling reason this must be done, and Trump Administration lawyers suck at law and military lawyers in civilian courts are dumber.

The "data center owner" will need to own more property than just that housing the data center. For the type of mega data center you need for excess heat to grow greenhouse produce, only a trivial amount is from roof-top solar. The hardware to heat by data center is pricey. Why not electric heaters?
⭐ 3. Quantitative example (from the sources)
SurgePV gives a real sizing example:

A 5 MW IT load at PUE 1.4 → 7 MW facility load

To offset even 40% of annual energy, you need ~14 MWp of solar

A typical large data‑center roof can host 1–2 MWp of solar at most.

That means rooftop solar provides:

≈ 5–10% of the facility’s load at best
Often < 3% for multi‑story buildings.

This is exactly the “trivial amount” you’re describing.

That presumes 1) Alberta remains part of Canada, 2) they don't say FUCK WINDMILLS like Donald Trump they follow, and 3) solar is viable in dim light on snow-covered panels. The good news there is that cold increases the efficiency of solar panels to partly make up for less light.😁
What this means in practice
A 1 kW array will produce roughly:

Alberta winter: ~2–3 kWh/day

California desert winter: ~4–5 kWh/day

So the California desert produces about 2× the winter output of Alberta.

⭐ Final Takeaway
Alberta: Solar is viable year‑round, but winter output is low (15–25% of annual).

California desert: Solar is extremely strong year‑round, with roughly double Alberta’s winter production.

If you want, Holly, I can also compare:

Alberta vs. Southern California (non‑desert),

Alberta vs. Ontario or BC,

or estimate real kWh/day for a system size you’re considering.

I ran into a MAGA in Green Bay in 2024 at hotel. He told me he was a tug-boat captain in Louisiana, there in Green Bay for some summer Packer's event. He told me storms are getting worse. He also told me he can't wait for Trump to be reelected to solve that. He was 💯 serious!🤯

Using what kind of power during the winter when you don't get much sun and much hydropower you have is frozen solid? You might help achieve that goal of warming the climate burning fossil fuels for that extra electricity.
🌞 Summer fossil‑fuel share (inferred)
Hydropower output is typically higher in summer due to snowmelt and reservoir inflows. When hydro rises, fossil‑fuel generation falls.

Based on monthly data through July 2026 and historical patterns, summer fossil‑fuel share is likely around:

≈17–19% fossil fuels (mostly natural gas)

❄️ Winter fossil‑fuel share (inferred)
Winter electricity demand increases (heating + lighting), and hydro output can dip depending on reservoir conditions. Natural gas generation usually rises to meet peak demand.

Winter fossil‑fuel share is therefore higher, typically:

≈22–25% fossil fuels

The case likely to be cited is Hamdan v. Rumsfeld (2006), which held even if the military calls something a “strictly military matter,” civilian courts have jurisdiction when Constitutional rights are at stake, because service members don’t lose those by enlisting. I believe that spoils your point.

Fun fact: It takes Americans 5.4 days to use 3,000,000 tons of diesel fuel. • U.S. Daily Consumption: 4.1 million barrels per day. • Weight-to-Volume Conversion: 3M metric tons of diesel is approximately 22.2M barrels • Timeline: Dividing 22.2M barrels by 4.1M barrels daily equals 5.4 days

What's adorable is you think that's an acceptable response. It seems defensive and trying to bluster your way through the argument. I use AI to review and make suggestions for my code because I don't believe, like you, that I'm perfect and always looking to improve. Work on that.

300,000 tons of diesel! Diesel isn't measured by tons, but 42 gallon barrels. At standard temp and pressure, 300,000 metric tons of diesel is about 2.24 million barrels, or just about enough to fill one VLCC tanker, but not one of the bigger ULCC ones.

Or have humans write the code and have it checked by AI, because it's fine with boring tasks are and most humans suck at them. I worked with few developers who reviewed other's code well. Then after AI has reviewed enough code, take the error producing humans out of the process.

Walmart has low grocery prices, but I just shopped at "Ralph's" because it was convenient and I only needed two items. I knew I'd paying $2 more for their store brand, commodity Cream Cheese, over twice the price of Walmart's $1.97, or the store I worked is $2.39.

Only stores that are already expensive do that to you, with a "loyalty card" and maybe a Starbucks. Other stores like Walmart, WinCo, and the I worked just had lower prices. When I shopped the fancy stores with higher prices, they were busier than us, because people are dumb, and marketers are smart

AI might be used to determine the optimal price point, charged all customers. We did in 255 stores. Also listed on our web site. It's a panic politicians are causing grocery stores "surveillance price". It's impossible with the price on the shelf. It's to make you blv they're doing something useful.
