I know I'm an asshole here but... we treat pets like humans, call them children, ourselves parents, expect deep emotional bonding & human relating - & exclude them in incomprehensible & hurtful ways. It's... not funny. It's actually cruel - if this were a human kid - well some would call it cruel.
