This is a relatively typical map of the Straits in the past week. Ship typically are not going around the tip (one that did got blown-up), but are moving to the east. Oil/ related are market in red, container/bulk carrier in green. Some of this ships distinctly labeled as Chinese.

See pics if you want to see more on SPR. Wright said the US is releasing 172MM bbl. If true, then the SPR will be down to 73 days. The IEA requirement is 90 days. Also, it will be the lowest level of SPR ever.

Be aware of differences in ships. Green are bulk carriers, red are oil/related tankers. Just above the tip of the peninsula in the picture (current) below is one of the ships on fire, and it’s a bulk carrier. I don’t know the names of the other two.

A current picture of the Straits of Hormuz. The only vessels moving near the tip are Iranian. One is about 60 ft long, the other about twice the size. Oil tankers are in red. In summary, that SOS is spewing nonsense about ships moving through the Straits.

That clump of red (oil tankers) to the right of the tip, is where the Parimal is currently anchored. So, it went through the Straits of Hormuz, just to be anchored beyond the Straits of Hormuz. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Also, it’s an oil/chemical tanker about 425 ft long, relatively small.

This is the US’ SPR inventory levels. I don’t know where the 60% number comes from, but it’s at near the lows of the last 40 years. I believe it represents about a 19 day supply. IMO, there was little to no thought given about the SPR in the lead-up to the Iran War.

The US has adequately prepared for this war with Iran…ahh, no they haven’t. Chart is of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. It’s basically near the 40 year lows. That’s about 19 days worth of supply. For those pointing out the Biden era lows, keep in mind we weren’t at war with both Venezuela and Iran.
