Just Keep Running in 2026: New Team, New Plans, Less Awkward Silence

Hello! It’s Vic, the creator of Just Keep Running. You might be wondering where the hell I’ve been this whole year. I kinda wonder that too sometimes, honestly. To keep it brief: this year has bee...

Hello! 👋 We've been gone for a while. There are good reasons as to why, life being the primary focus, but that also means not a lot of work has been put into development of Just Keep Running. That changes now... Stay tuned to this space 🤫❤️

And they say that two legends cannot coexist. I bet they feel stupid now. 😎

An itch collection. Only two games are on it, Hole House (a notoriously NSFW game), and Just Keep Running (which is our parkour platformer, definitely SFW, game)

WE FOUND THE KEYS TO THE HOUSE! Jokes aside, thank you so much for the wait! I’ve been busy rewriting the story of JKR and that’s gonna keep me busy for a while, but we’re back to actively worki...

2024 has been a year of personal growth for me and my company. 2024 has also been a very conflicted and sometimes scary year for a lot of us. So I wanted to talk to y'all a bit about this year and our plans for the next one. Happy new year, and hope to see y'all in 2025! :D youtu.be/UHooWwxRVSw

Initially, jumping down the catwalk in Level 1-3 wasn't meant to be possible, but shoutouts to the ✨speedrunners and playtesters✨ for finding a way. It's an easter egg now, cause why get rid of it and ruin the fun? :P #gaming #indiegame #gamedev

Always love polishing up features and adding small, but useful stuff ☺️ For example, when we polished Time Trials so that the UI shows the cause of death, and also audibly/visually warns you when time is running low :D #gamedev #indiegame #gaming

Giving options can be a great thing! :D In Just Keep Running, the walljump count shows up as a fullscreen effect, but this can be intrusive to some. Instead of being fullscreen, you can also have a smaller, less intrusive modal that appears at the top of the screen! 😁 #gamedev #indiegame #gaming

When the player isn't in a stage, the music state is Calm. When the player IS in a stage, the music state is Alert. When the player IS in a stage and either is being attacked by an enemy or a Time Trial is running, the music state is Action.

230

I.M.I.Self @imiself.se · 23/10/2024

When the music state has been changed, it will transition the mood of the music on the next appropriate beat. You can see below how it looks in FMOD Studio! The state can also go back to calmer moods if the momentum of a certain state has died down.

I.M.I.Self @imiself.se · 23/10/2024

Here's how the Dynamic Music System in our game Just Keep Running works! 🎵🔊 We used FMOD to create a simple and effective "Intensity State" system that transitions the music based on in-game events. More details below! 🧵 #indiegame #gamedev #gameaudio

📢 ALT TEXT PSA Game Devs. Quick nudge to say that adding alt-text to images and videos is very much the norm on Bluesky. Outside of the obvious accessibility/inclusion win, some folks have their feeds set up so your posts won't even show up on their feed unless it has alt-text Spread the word 👍🏻

@vswede.bsky.social is a game dev first, but he tried his very best to make the spaces in our game look as clean and stylish as possible! 😊❤️ #gamedev #indiegame #voxelart

A bright conference room with a long table and tipped over chairs. There’s a note on the table.

There’s a TV to the left of the image with an emergency notice letting staff know to evacuate to the ground floor.

To the right, there’s a big window with clear blue skies, although there is also a big floating transparent panel in the sky showing the date, the 15th of October 2123, the current time, 7:28 AM, and a text reading “SkyOS Version 3.2.2”

A clean, big white octagonal room, with blue lights providing accents at every other wall.

Right in front of us is a receptionist desk, and below it we can see a big sign reading “WELCOME TO L4”.
To the right of the big sign is a large door leading to “Testing Labs.

Around the room, you can spot couches, coffee tables, and a water cooler.

A clean testing chamber with panel walls and floors. In front of us, we see a big cube which the camera is focused on.

Behind the cube, we see a big disintegration panel, though it’s hard to tell as the image gets blurry beyond the cube.

We see a clean, cyan office space with blue carpet flooring. The camera is from the perspective of the player character, and we can see parts of the game UI. The player is holding a green keycard.

In front of us, we can see an office cubicle with a computer monitor showing one part of a 4-number code combination.

Past the cubicle, on the ceiling of the office, you can spot a Roof Turret scouting out the area, looking away from the player.
