Imagine meeting a girl you fall in love with at a party & you fall in love with her so hard its like Before Sunrise where you fall in love during the conversation but because she's wearing a Carmen Sandiego hat & has a band-aid on her face u dont realize she's Elizabeth Holmes

Did a Pokémon type quiz, really in-depth professorbonsly.itch.io/18types

A type quiz result that says I would likely be Normal monotype or a Normal/Psychic type

A type quiz result that says that I'm helpful, coolheaded, and expressive, and that my abilities would be Own Tempo, Friend Guard, and Blaze.

The fun thing about the Utah Mammoth existing is they make this rink from Backyard Hockey almost feel prophetic

I think that just leaves music! Music has always admittedly been a blind spot for me, and this year I didn't really listen to much at all in retrospect, but I got to see Halsey in concert which was really amazing and I'm definitely looking to expand my tastes more in future :)

Online series were massive for me as always. Unstable Universe completely took over my attention this year, but Jet Lag continued on as something I look forward to each week, AYADU relaunched as The Pod Universe, and Jon Bois released another incredible documentary!

The Pod Universe (by Dylan Roth and Dalton Deschain)

TV's been surprisingly big for me, it never really has been before but I was unemployed for a good chunk of this year and it let me truly dig into some wonderful series. Unfortunately I think only The Pitt is releasing new episodes this upcoming year, but I hope all of these return for more seasons!

This year I really stopped reading superhero comics, which has really caused my comics reading to decline, but I still read some really solid series this year! Looking forward to pushing my indie reading further forwards in the new year!

Coffin Bound by Dan Watters, Dani, Brad Simpson, & Aditya Bidikar

Flung Out Of Space by Grace Ellis and Hannah Templer

Invisible Kingdom by G Willow Wilson, Christian Ward, and Sal Cipriano

The Power Fantasy by Kieron Gillen, Casper Wijngaard, Clayton Cowles, and Rian Hughes

I gotta read more prose books, I feel like I'm always saying that but it's really always true. Despite feeling that way, I actually read a good number of pretty good books this year, both fiction and non-fiction! I fell off a bit later this year, but I'm optimistic about getting back into it.

Debt: The First 5,000 Years by David Graeber

The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoyevsky

The Society of the Spectacle by Guy Debord

This was a year that I really devoted a lot of time to movies, and it really paid off! I've easily watched some of my favourite movies I've ever seen this year, this is just a short selection of what could be a much longer list.

I didn't really play that many video games this year, but I've had a lot of fun with the ones that I've gotten to. Recently started the Resident Evil series, so looking forward to seeing some of those games on next year's review!

With all that being said, going to start my fiction recap with RPGs! This was a big year for tactical fantasy for me as I started to figure out what sort of playstyle can click for me in a genre that I've often struggled with. Looking forward to playing more with all my friends in the new year!

Dragon Age RPG (run by my metamour Taryn)

D&D: Hoard of the Dragon Queen (run by my amazing friend Dim)

Pathfinder: Kingmaker (run by Taryn, again!)

Now, it is true that this ballot only really features movies from the past few years... that's because I only really started watching movies seriously the past few years, and I recognize I have to watch stuff older than that soon, but with that being said, here's that NYT list everyone's been doing.

List for the Best Movies of the 21st Century:
The Seed of the Sacred Fig (2024)
Asteroid City (2023)
Nickel Boys (2024)
Before Midnight (2013)
Oppenheimer (2023)
Killers of the Flower Moon (2023)
Nope (2022)
I Saw The TV Glow (2024)
Sinners (2025)
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)

Like... come on. This looks amazing. They're wasting Mora's talent with the colourists they've been putting on his books.

A page from Detective Comics #1035. Batman is in a dark sewer and looking incredible in a way Dan Mora art really does anymore, because this is coloured by Bellaire and not anybody else.

Time for music! I don't tend to listen to a lot of music so my taste probably isn't great, but these all really affected me in any case so I think they're probably at least decent😅.

Some tabletop games! This year I ran a campaign of Girl by Moonlight, the first one I've ran in a while! The others I only played in rather than ran, but still had a great time! Thanks to all my friends who played with me in these!

So with that being said, I'll start on some favourites! First, comics! These are comics I read this year rather than ones that released this year, and that will be true for the rest of the categories of this thread as well.

She's just so incredibly gender, and I'm a sucker for a phoenix aesthetic. How could I not?

Ash sits on a throne, saying "Watch me." She's wearing a brilliant red dress and a red half-mask with wisps of flame emerging from both, with her D4 sparkling on her chest. She also has a red cape draped over her shoulders.

A few more that I just Discord screenshotted because she sent a lot of text (first screenshot are ones with some pretty major caveats, second screenshot are ones that are not explicitly trans but trans-coded)

The two of them are pretty much like this. There's a TERTIARY character who is introduced near the end, and not a ton is done with her, but she's a pre trans transbian and its kinda nuts to see her there and one of the main characters is like "maybe i should give her some of my old clothes hmm" and trying to be a friendly neighbour about it lol
Kyou Kara Yonshimai. This has a trans lesbian as a main character but her lesbian romance ends with her girlfriend being like "no sorry im straight i was just hoping you would desist" and it fucked me up BAD. I recommend reading chapter 7 in isolation as a oneshot for a beautiful and romantic c4t lesbian sex scene and pretend the rest of the story doesn't exist
Uniforms at the age of 19. What a fuckin story. I struggle to call this good, but i kinda fuckin loved it??? One of the main three girls is a trans lesbian who, as a guy, is a sugar baby for older women and then uses their money to buy herself women's clothing and makeup and stuff.

1: Handsome girl sheltered girl. This is about a silly girl who asks out this guy in her class who is in actuality just a handsome girl. The story follows the handsome girl struggling with trying to come out as a girl and hiding female features, which feels very "tgirl on hrt but still boymoding"
2: Hello Melancholic. The main girl is tall and lanky and awkward and talks about her voice sounding funny and in flashbacks it looks like shes wearing a boy's uniform in middle school with short hair and im not convinced that she's cis tbh

The bridge of "This Is Your Life" by The Killers is legitimately one of the pieces of writing that I think about most. It just reflects so much of my philosophy so well in so few lines.

Screenshot of the bridge of "This Is Your Life", reading as follows:
[Bridge]
Your sky is full of dreams
But you don't know how to fly
I don't have a simple answer
But I know that I could answer
Something better

Name a game that's had a genuinely profound effect on you Could never be anything else, really. Such an incredibly creative, queer, and collaborative space between developers & fans. It was an experience like no other, and now it's gone, but I'm incredibly grateful for the impact that it had on me.

Had to share what's got to be a favourite comic strip of mine on a day when it won't leave my mind. asofterworld.com/index.php?id...

An image of "A Softer World" #227 by e horne and j comeau. The image is a cloudy landscape shot of a lake, split into three panels. The text in the first panel reads "Truth and Beauty are wonderful words", the second panel reads "but shrapnel is shrapnel and at the end of the day", and the third panel reads "I am alone with the things I have done."

What is even up with Bluesky on tablet? There are black bars on the sides and top no matter what, seemingly? Weird UI...
