Weekend haul 4/4: #Gypsum with #Halite ! 🟤 My favorite rocks are those that look like miniature alien worlds up close. This is one of them - I love the variety of sizes, shapes and colors at play here, esp. the second image <3 The green tint on this gypsum comes from abundant copper at the site!

Weekend haul 3/4: #Prehnite ! 🟢 As one of the more common green minerals it deserved a spot in my collection. This particular specimen enticed me with a cavernous form and a lovely color gradient - from lemon green to pale mint. The main mineral is neatly framed by white calcite and quartz.

Weekend haul 2/4: A thick bubbly layer of #Chrysocolla ! 🔵 I like how you only really start to see its translucency when you get up close and personal with a macro lens - otherwise it appears fully opaque.

Weekend haul 1/4: This lovely cluster of #Amethyst ! 🟣 While taking the photos I was stoked to discover dendrites in some of the major crystals (check last pic!). These tree-like structures resembling fossils are formed when natural fissures meet manganese or iron-rich waters.

New acquisition - #Zincite! This juicy-grapefruit-colored mineral rarely crystallizes in nature, and is most commonly found as byproduct of zinc smelting. My ADHD ass forgot to take a photo under UV light, oopsie! (keep an eye out) Specimen from Huta Oława, Oława, Lower Silesia, Poland 🇵🇱

I wanted some kind of mica (characteristically flaky, sheet-like minerals) for my collection, so naturally I ended up getting #Fuchsite - a chromium-rich variety of muscovite. The green looks uniquely metallic from a distance, but up close the flakes become so alluringly vitreous 💚

Otter's favorite uranium ore - #Torbernite! As far as green minerals go, torbernite definitely sports the most 'alien' look. Kobolds go crazy for it so watch out. (it's me I'm kobolds)
