A moment when two boys, at odds with each other, work towards a common goal

Text in the image reads as the following:
Gil looked toward Rhys, who was giving Zak a firm squeeze of his shoulder. “Rhys, can I trust you with our boy too. At least for now”
Rhys looked over at Finn who gave a nervous glance back. He smiled at Finn then turned back to Gil to give him a firm nod. “I’ll look after both of them,” he confirmed.
Gil didn’t like trusting Finn to Rhys as much as Sid didn’t like trusting Gil to lead both teams, but he knew the other boy cared enough about their two youngest. Gil glanced over towards Sid and rested his hand on the other’s shoulder. The chameleon’s hand shifted color to match Sid’s skin tone and the color of his vest from the strap. It didn’t make his hand invisible, but it was an impressive likeness to the colors under his palm.
“When was the last time you raided a place with another Yldrien?” Gil asked, flashing an almost playful smirk. Sid only responded with a grimace all too familiar to the chameleon.
“Yea… same here. Wanna change that?” Gil scoffed
The Kattagen’s ears pulled back slightly, baring his fangs. But in the end, Sid relented and gave a nod of his head. “You’re on, lizard brain”

Fortunately the feedback ive gotten is what i hoped for! Which has been really reassuring. Especially considering my friends are somewhat used to the darker and emotional stuff i do in their games already lol

Thanks! So I'm also a dungeon master for a couple of games with friends, a lot of which are creators in some way, writers, streamers, artists, ect. When I finished writing a chapter i'd usually throw it at a couple of them to read. They've been following along the plot and the process with me

To be honest, the most challenging thing to write so far has been the more emotional scenes. I'm either worried it isn't impactful (because i already know what's happening so it doesn't hit me as much) or I overthink what's happening and I get too emotional LOL there's been like zero in between

Thanks! The story follows a team of five teens who have been forced/coerced into playing a blood sport in which only one team can win, only one team can survive. More importantly it's a story about pushing forward and staying true to yourself even when things falls apart and you just don't want to

Writing a first draft novel in three weeks is probably the fastest I've worked on a story in years xD I'm also very tired

Not gonna lie, i use these two styles every time i describe elven or dwarven architecture! I think by this point it's such a classic inspiration for both that it's hard not to use them as references lol

Writing a standalone novel when you're an avid world builder is PAINFUL xD Originally planned for lore to be background noise to explain motives, back stories, ect. And now I got tons of lore that'll never be in this damn book xD #writesky #youngadultfiction #YA #writer #writing

I love fight shifts so much with bosses. Second and even third phases are super fun. I especially like physical changes to bosses like with dark souls and Bloodborne

🌈 In collaboration with Disney Hyperion, Rick Riordan & Mark Oshiro, Rainbow Crate is pleased to reveal our exclusive hardcase art of The Sun & the Star and The Court of the Dead! 🧵 Note: These are digital mockups and finished copies may differ slightly.

A graphic with a white brick wall background with a thin gold outline. Along the top it reads “Rainbow Crate Presents” with a rainbow icon between crate and presents. Underneath that it says “Nico Di Angelo Adventures” in black font. Below this, black font reads “Endpaper Reveal”. In the middle of the graphic is a 3D mockup of the front endpaper of The Sun & the Star. Text at the bottom reads “jacket + edges by @/alessia.trunfio”, “hardcase art by @/giulia_blue”, and “endpapers by @/tienwashere”.

One thing i love about fiction is how we know things are different in reality... but it's more fun to go with the fantasies. Like yes pirates didn't have buried treasure and such, but damn if it isn't more fun!
