... The parts of the FRIEND that was Mike still retains those memories, though, even if it doesn't consider those memories as belonging to it. It was just an act that doesn't need to be continued any longer... And you can't miss something when you can't miss anything at all.

The pack moved on, and didn't even have enough mind to care about the Mike-shaped hole it left in the darker side of reality. The Lightners wouldn't know, Spamton would soon be dead, and it's not like any remaining denizens of the Dark would still care enough about "Mike" to look into it... right?

He was reabsorbed back into the shifting, mindless mass with little struggle. All of "Mike's" memories, feelings, and the things he'd done as a person -- all of them were quickly disregarded as merely a short phase that the greater FRIEND allowed a splinter of itself to carry out. It was over, now.

Mike was good at keeping his mouth shut. Spamton couldn't tell anyone how he did all of this. Because the answer was that he never did. So, when Tenna's contract technically invalidated the conditions of that deal, the original "Mike" ceased to be entirely.

"Mike" was able to fit in authentically. Was he Spamton's friend? Tenna's friend? What did he even look like? How did he get everything done? It didn't matter. People saw "Mike" as what he was supposed to be. Some felt like they'd always known him their entire lives! In a way, they weren't wrong.

Specific conditions were set. This was a very gentle experiment; Dark Worlds are designed to cater to the light, not its own denizens. Spamton's success was literally impossible, and if the Dark "realized" this impossible wrongness had occurred inside itself - it'd snap, break, and it'd all be over.

It was all an act, of course. Mike was just a puppet of the FRIENDS' will, pretending to be its own person, pretending to care... pretending to think, and believing all of this "pretending" sincerely. But the FRIENDs knew Mike was fake. All of this camaraderie was just part of the deal, right?

The FRIEND made "Mike" from its own flesh and blood. That was all it was given to work with, of course. But, the mass of FRIEND is an emotionless, cold-blooded, single-minded horde. It knows no compassion.. but, how could it help someone without it? So, Mike was made to be kind. Truly kind.

Of course, Spamton is Darkner embodiment of something that... kind of doesn't work, it is WRITTEN into him. No one alive could ever help Spamton to not be a failure. So, if there existed no one that could "help" Spamton... then, someone would have to be CREATED to help him.

They're dangerous, of course, but those with proficient knowledge on how these organisms work (like doctors, or living nightmares,) can command to do their bidding. Somehow, impossibly, Spamton came in contact with one of these creatures, and it was permitted it to do its best to "help" him.

They're inherent to the darkness itself, similar to the Titans and Titanspawn; while Titan entities are the embodiment of the fear of the dark, the FRIEND is the opposite - it's the answer hiding further in the darkness. It's the solution JUST around the corner... so long as you reach further in.

The FRIEND is a multitude, it is (pseudo?)-hivemind of near identical individuals driven by basic instinct. They are all the same entity, but ONLY because they all assume themselves to be the same entity. Their thought process is rather simple, so they do not reflect on this too much.
