Nice light across the desk today… great for atmospherics, terrible for seeing what I’m painting 😆 don’t want to pull down the blind when it’s such a lovely morning ☀️

Sun and shadows streaked across the palette and canvas surface. The line drawing and a work in progress painting showing in between patches of bright sunlight.

Back in the studio after a week of exploring. Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur expedition. I can confirm that the continent has nothing to be inspired by… I will however attempt to go back and check this on a regular basis, just in case, so you don’t have to.

Had a little helper in the studio this afternoon. He’s rather good with the double sided tape. Plus, at 8 yrs old, I get to introduce him to the music these latest boxes are for. Rock Royalty 🎸🤘🏻

Feels like I’m picking on the UPS person this morning. Always nervous on deliveries with glazing, but very relieved to have this space back for my studio. Also, art school doesn’t prep you for ‘professional’ life… which is at least 80% logistics and paperwork 🫠

I started making box frame dioramas with my illustrations a few years ago... a random experiment that has since taken me on a winding unforeseen journey to commissioned projects. It's been a busy year already, but this one was a favourite of mine: Lily Allen + Tunnock's teacake + avocado

Monte Fitz Roy is a mountain in Patagonia, on the border between Argentina and Chile. It is located in the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, near El Chaltén village and Viedma Lake. It was first climbed in 1952 by French alpinists Lionel Terray and Guido Magnone.

This is my original acrylic and ink painting of the Fitz Roy peak, completed on a 30 x 30 cm canvas and presented in a floater frame.

I enjoyed creating contrast between the soft pastel colours of the sky with the strong earthy reds and oranges.

The painting became a little abstract with the additional pen detail... drawn over the paint surface to create definition and shape.
