It's not enough to be against AI, you need to be pro art. You need to be a champion of the art you love, you need to share that passion and joy, and do what you can to support the artists who make it, because it's not enough to hate AI, to hate what it's doing to art and media; you gotta love.

An illustration featuring the main cast of Witch Hat Atelier. The white-robed witch Qifrey steps into a golden frame, surrounded by dark, twisting branches. Within the frame, his apprentice witches Coco, Agott, Tetia, and Richeh, along with his Watchful Eye Olruggio, await him in a golden field, with their atelier visible amongst the hills in the distance. A fluffy white brushbuddy (cute little animal with a long furry body) scampers along the bottom of the frame.

Still a Hiensimp @illusory.bsky.social · 27/06/2026

Iirc if not for Gosetsu promising to look after Tsuyu, Hien wouldn’t have agreed to taking her in. And later in the blasphemy DPS quest he has Domans hating him because of it lmao. My manz can’t take a break 🥹

110

Still a Hiensimp @illusory.bsky.social · 27/06/2026

I was SO mad when they picked Tsuyu up! And her own brother was an asshole to her throughout. They tormented her till the very end wtf. But noooo let’s hate Hien instead lmao

My WoL gave that guy a ‘I’m watching you’ gesture. But also, from Hien’s POV Yotsuyu did Doma a lot of harm, sad backstory notwithstanding. So why would he punish someone from her past? He never even tortured her or anything after she lost her memories. Like???? I don’t get the haters haha

110

Still a Hiensimp @illusory.bsky.social · 27/06/2026

It’s been a while since Stormblood for all of us haha but iirc the guy he didn’t punish was also currently part of the Doman army and had troops of his own etc. Hien has a war to win so why would he remove an able-bodied person from battle? I found it very pragmatic haha.

110

Still a Hiensimp @illusory.bsky.social · 27/06/2026

Honestly “white” looking villains in FFXIV getting a pass despite basically bringing about ends of worlds and final days and whatnot but Hien getting flack for acting pragmatically is wild to me

220

Still a Hiensimp @illusory.bsky.social · 27/06/2026

I played the Tsukuyomi dungeon recently and Yotsuyu herself recognizes who tormented her and that she herself was the one who couldn’t let go of her own pain. It’s honestly why she’s one of the better FFXIV villains because she has accountability for her own actions

120

Still a Hiensimp @illusory.bsky.social · 27/06/2026

Iirc the hate he gets was because he didn’t punish the man who bought Yotsuyu out for his brothel. Story wise did my WoL agree with that decision—no. But lbr who fucking sold Yotsuyu in the first place? Wasn’t it her parents???

100

Still a Hiensimp @illusory.bsky.social · 27/06/2026

Totally random and slightly prompted by a fic I was reading that had Hien hate in it, but I really think the hate people have for Hien is the same hate I feel towards Yotsuyu’s parents and Asahi lol. Like why is he the one getting all the hate when he wasn’t even the one who shaped Yotsuyu

I’m not sure I could’ve survived covid somewhat mentally intact if not for FFXIV. The friends I played with then no longer play now, but now my brother got into it too, and we live in separate countries so playing FFXIV together is our way of hanging out.
