my issue originally was that it would distort the eyelashes when the eyelids moved, but with some messing around i figured out how to scale the lattice to kinda isolate the eye while leaving the eyelashes outside of the affected area. also figured out how to properly parent it to the eye bones

buuut if you want to maintain hand placement for a specific reason, parent the arm ik controls to the root as well. no shame in changing rigging systems for different shots

from my rigging and animation experiments lately, parent your arm ik controls to the chest bone, and parent your hips and leg ik controls to a root bone. it lets you move the hips while keeping the feet planted, and lets you twist the torso while keeping arm and hand position relative to the chest

and i think what also really sells it is making sure the hips rise and fall with each step, as well as making sure your foot placement looks solid and not too slidey

and idk if this makes sense but, i would animate one leg at a time and make sure you can split that animation in half equally, so when you put it to the other leg you can line them up and theyll loop properly. so one leg would be like, frame 1 2 3 4 5 6, and the other would be frame 4 5 6 1 2 3

be like me and have adhd and hyperfocus on blender until 3am 😔 (joking) but i would say look at some refs and start simple, and if you havent touched into the NLA section in blender, definitely look into it. its helped me so much with animating and things not feeling so painfully cluttered

thank you!! yes its a shader, its a modified toon shader with a voronoi node thrown in for texture, thus pixilated value stepping instead of smooth cell shading 🙂‍↕️
