Badenoch wants to scrap inheritance tax on family homes and raise the individual threshold to £500000. She proposes to pay for this by reintroducing the two-child benefit cap and cut to out of work benefits. In other words give the wealthy a nice bonus while impoverishing the most vulnerable.

There’s some aspects of the US tax system which I think could be readily adopted by the UK; such as the requirement to file tax returns in the US wherever you live and an exit tax for those who choose to renounce their citizenship. This would blunt the threat from billionaires to move abroad.

Something also needs to be done to ensure that the diagnosis of dementia is timely and accurate. My mother had obvious symptoms of dementia, hallucinations, anxiety,violent outbursts with loss of memory and the inability to perform day-to-day functions but was never diagnosed with dementia.

My wife did question the price but was presented with the bill after they did the procedures. She presumed that the price would have risen in line with inflation. The problem with the Glastonbury area is there are no NHS dentists available, all are private and many run by big chains.

The cost of fillings at the dentist I am currently using has doubled in four years. In 2023 two fillings cost £220 in the 2025 two fillings cost £420. One of the fillings was redoing a filling from 2024.
