tbh these record players are low quality and likely to quite hard on yr records anyway if you play them on there for long enough so i doubt it makes much difference?

the deluxe package is nice - 50p from the chazza - the remixes are entirely expendable (i have both)

largely agree with this, its not that there are no deep cuts on the others but they always feel a bit shonky at least

i've spent years assuming what's the colour of money was the theme from the major motion picture the colour of money but this feels kinda ludicrous on inspection? i may give it a bonus for nostalgic reasons tho

o no (richard thompson retreats to the live lounge)

Richard Thompson (yes, the legendary guitarist) recorded a wonderful version of "Oops I did it again".
He performs it with utter conviction, despite his rather flippant remarks at the beginning, thus showing what a great song it is:

listeners digest brings us "i don't mean to come across as sneering" but britney is not so much worth dealing with as a lot of proper artistes lol, i've seen worse in these things but pop artists are always worth dealing with in this context precisely because they aren't well known beyond the hits

I can’t help but feel that your Digest has lost its way of late. On artists like The Fall, it made eminent sense: their labyrinthine back catalogue would be all but impenetrable to a new comer.

Brittney is not that sort of artist. I’m not saying she doesn’t have good numbers, Toxic and Slave 4 U are pop classics, and Hit me Baby… is the song that Lady Gaga has been trying to write for years. But the thing with Brittney Spears is that she is wholly accessible. Nobody stands cringing at the outskirts of her body of work, too intimidated to take a listen.

I’d understand if you’d exhausted all the more prolific and hard-to-follow artists already, but the truth is you’ve barely scratched the surface. Guided by Voice’s discography makes The Fall’s look restrained and sensible. Tom Waits has had two career’s worth of output; David Sylvian has had three. And there’s plenty of more popular artists who fit the bill too: Joni Mitchell, Prince, Madonna, REM.

I don’t mean to come across as sneering; as I say I’ve nothing against poor old Brittney. But I do think you’re on to a good thing with this format, and I’d hate to see the concept come apart at the seams before its time.
