That makes sense. The "monster is rare" solution fixes those problems pretty neatly. It does seem like it removes any sort of casual/everyday vibes, because simply being around The Monster would make any scene into a rare/dramatic scene. Are those not vibes you look for in smut?

There's some mechanics that slowly make it easier after most runs, and over a looong time that makes "winning" a given run pretty easy. That said, I agree with the others. Even after sinking in the time to reach that point, I had no desire to 100% the game because of how long it would take.

It can be incredibly jarring sometimes to be into vore, especially when a given work can cross between these two extremes. A work might start out as fluffy romance, but after the predator gets a taste, their personality shifts, perhaps as they are trying to justify their actions to themselves.

When it is NOT nice for both, the predator is often very sadistic. They enjoy the pain they are inflicting, mocking the prey, threatening their family/friends will be next, and treating the prey like food. The prey (usually) did not consent, hates what is happening, and dies in agony and fear.

When it is nice for both, vore is portrayed almost like snuggling 2.0. The predator is just cuddling someone from every angle, feeling warm and full and happy. The prey is basically wearing a heated/weighted blanket while being as close as possible to someone they love. It's sweet, often romantic.

Since his Endurance is low, he can't flee too far. He needs a place to rest. And where can he do that? At the healing spring mentioned earlier with that monk! The monk will scare off the enemy and teach the MC the Vibrating Palm technique that does more damage the more times you've hit an opponent.

In a "true" LitRPG (using my definition, where the author is horny for the numbers), a reader can use the numbers much the way a mystery reader can use clues. You can make predictions about how the story will go because the world interacts with the numbers in a consistent, grounded way.

Like, I have read a lot of web serials. For the ones that I really enjoyed, I have folders of bookmarks of the important/interesting chapters so I easily go back and reread them. For the LitRPGs, those are almost exclusively the chapters where we get to see the full Stats/Skills page.

Personally, I enjoy exploring the space of "how would those video game mechanics work"? Like, HP. You're exactly as strong at 1/100 HP as you are at 100/100 HP. You don't get injured, slow down, etc. How does that work? What does that imply about medicine in-universe? etc.

I think so many Litrpg stories have fundamentally the same origin as many Isekai stories: Some existing magic system/setting seems to imply a way to get OP, and the original author never exploited it. So people wrote their own stories where the MC does exploit it.

I don't know what the official definition of litrpg is, but IMO, you can tell a litrpg from a story with a videogame aesthetic by whether or not the author is horny for the numbers. Matt Dinniman is not horny for the numbers.
