One story that particularly surprised me was about how in the mid-1980s Oz was gearing up to shoot #LittleShopOfHorrors at Pinewood. Originally he wanted legendary cinematographer Michael Ballhaus as his DP, but the British crew rebelled (!), refusing to work with a German after WWII.

I wonder if there are some rights issues. Because Factor 5 created a lot of very sophisticated tech for these games, going all the way up to helping design GameCube audio systems. So they may have patented something without which the games won't launch.

Star Wars today is this wonderful franchise that somehow "constantly cancels things" and yet is "overly saturated with content", "too safe and studio-approved" and yet "in need of a strict, detailed plan, prepared well in advance". 🤷‍♂️

This entire argument has always felt nonsensical to me. Lucas *never* had a plan, and I don't remember that bothering anyone. The original trilogy was pretty much made on the go, retconning things with every new movie. And even his plans for for the prequels mostly concerned just ROTS.

Yes and no. It was just a few paragraphs when Kennedy joined LFL in 2012. Before they closed the deal, Iger and Horn received what they referred to as outlines. After that Michael Arndt started working with Lucas, and, from what I understand, had a rough draft when he left in early 2013.

Sometimes you just have to take a step back, breathe out and remind yourself that a lot of people have some really stupid, uninformed opinions about Star Wars. And that's alright. It's inevitable. Comes with it being the biggest film franchise on earth. (but boy is it frustrating)

I think the numbering is just speculation by (some of) the trades. Yes, we know that Kinberg trilogy will be a continuation of VII-IX, but that doesn't mean they'll present it as "Episode X". It could just as well be its own new story.

I wonder if future retrospectives would call #TheDogStars one of Ridley Scott's most personal films. His grief over Tony's death and the civilization's decline hangs heavy over the narrative. And Brolin's character (a lone cynic learning to open up) is pretty much his alter ego!

Watched one of my biggest Ridley Scott blindspots tonight, #Legend (1985). Sadly, I was more baffled than entranced. Scott embraces the Henson-esque weirdness of the genre, but it makes doe-eyed Tom Cruise stand out all the more. If anything, this should've been Lili's story, much like Labyrinth!

I love Star Wars so much. This franchise should help everyone to reach the best they can become. It is profoundly about hope, for yourself, for others, for everyone. Star Wars is not about what past can bound us to, but to which future we can aspire to, in spite of difficulties.
