It’s also the fact that people need to be traumatized to adhere to history. The literal second people who directly survived horrible events like WW2 and the Holocaust started to die off, we magically forgot how they started. It’s irritating, grating and completely unnecessary in the grand scheme.

People used to treat women who had sex outside of marriage very cruelly; with many being ostracized from their communities without the financial means to survive. She and the man she was seeing at the time wanted to have intimate time together without the harsh treatment from others. (2)

I liked it until the ending. Thought it would teach about treating people with disabilities with respect, left with the unsatisfactory ending of “well you’re useful so we like you now”. As an autistic person I despise the attitude at the end. As if the abuse was justified/never happened.
