How to become a billionaire: 1. Use other people's work without compensation; 2. Use public input for refinement; 3. Data center power & water subsidized by the community 4. ... 5. Make billions $$$. ***TL/DR: Brazen thievery.

It's like a pharmaceutical company that distributes a drug for "free" with no info on chemical make-up, no clinical trials. They tell people to keep taking the drug & report any symptoms/effects so the company can figure out a use case. All while marketing said drug as the "cure" to every ailment.

Because everything released to the public is the "beta" version. They don't care about actual utility. So they release versions for the public to test & improve (free labour on top of the IP theft). Development of an actual product with a goal takes far more care, patience, time, & insight.

Both. They have no mandate, but they promised to give the Americans a cut if the separatists win. It's a pitch to an investor: Give me money to buy these lock picks & I'll give you a cut of whatever I steal from that house.

An example of the separatists' delusion-based fiscal management, over-inflated sense of entitlement, & disregard of other people's rights.

Remember when no one can find her as that wildfire engulfed Jasper? She chose to stay at an election fundraiser rather than address Albertans.

Yes, and two of Smith's caucus were ousted/resigned for disagreeing with 1) government procurement (Guthrie) 2) budget allocated for small towns (Sinclair). So apparently, disagreements on spending is considered more severe than disagreements on whether they should destroy Canada.

Priorities: Smith ousted an MLA for questioning potential procurement corruption, she ousted another one (recently re-instated) for questioning the budget, but she thinks it's reasonable to promote the break-up of Canada.

No. I'm in Alberta. I'm against this creeping privatization. But this is our mess. This is the consequences of our provincial election choices. We need to clean it up ourselves by protesting/ choosing a better provincial government. Stop this learned helplessness & redirecting responsibility.

Oddly, "Fortress" North America was Greer's rationale for wanting a veto on Canadian trading partners. So I don't think actions against its own civilian population is the only end goal here. US leadership is becoming more paranoid. I wonder if they indeed view their neighbours as friendly.

Surprised by this breakdown. UCP voters 20 points more likely than the next highest demographic to be separatist. Essentially, Albertans are paying bec of internal UCP party politics: $130 million, lost investments, personal tensions, diversion fr real issues. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

AHS report on ambulance wait times right before the election. So, while Ottawa should enforce the Canada Health Act. What we're experiencing is primarily an Alberta problem that Albertans' need to fix in the next election. Stop behaving like spoiled kids playing mom v. dad to get what we want.

We all saw that video of Smith talking abt her plans to weaken AHS & justify privatization; we saw her choose a fundraising event over addressing the Jasper wildfire; we know her record of loyalty as Wildrose leader; her published articles on separation. No one questioned the timing of that

I don't like this dual model. But, expecting Ottawa to fix the consequences of Albertans' election choices isn't productive either. First, this province has to stop believing the grievance narrative blaming Ottawa for everything & stop blindly voting Conservative. We need to grow the F up.

It's rage baiting. It's a strategy, not always a good one (hence all the floor crossings). It's how Poilievre became CPC leader, how they out-fundraised other parties for years, which financed his interminable cross-country campaigns. He thinks it's a winning formula.

This is an insightful piece about what's happening in Britain. A cautionary tale for other jurisdictions, especially here in Alberta, Canada, where Smith's UCP is similarly trying to stoke racial politics with their referendum.

Sometimes the thing being tested behave in unanticipated ways. That's exactly why you do things slowly, with more safeguards that you think you'd need. This Silicon valley cowboy attitude is infuriating. Think of the consequences if microbiologists, virologists, or chemists ignored safety protocols.

IGrowOld 🇨🇦 @igrowold.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
Twisted logic. 2 of her 3 issues were with the provincial, not the federal government; she wasn't truly independent since she had family to fall back on (a missed metaphor for being part of federation); she understands land & water, but not air protection - or how climate change affects all of that!

Lol! He proceeds to name two women to corroborate. A lot of men have been doing what he's described way before AI. They offload the planning, organizing, cleaning up-to their wives, secretaries, female colleagues. But he's mistaken in thinking the world will be fine without this invisible labour.

Also Weidel in Germany. In my corner of the world, we have Smith as provincial premier. She's like if Liz Truss & Boris Johnson had a daughter mentored by Trump, who also goes to Suella Braverman for spiritual advice.

And as Smith claims to follow the UK model, we can see where this leads: Far-right MP claiming immigrants' children born in England aren't English; masked thugs; harassment of a search & rescue charity. The list of people in the "in" group becoming ever smaller.

It's amazing how the UCP cries -jurisdiction overreach - when dealing with the feds, but then turns around & does the same to municipalities. They're like that co-worker who keeps trying to take over other people's projects, but can never get their actual job done.

Re Jasper fire 😡: Smith refused to leave her election fundraiser as Jasper burned. She then spread misinformation regarding Jasper's tragedy as ammunition against the Feds. And was angry that the assessment commissioned by the town pointed out the province's missteps in handling the emergency.

Though as I've argued before, she can be more than one thing. Rath is a grifter, opportunist, & a separatist. If Smith wasn't premier, I suspect she'd be openly leading the separatist negotiations with the US.

Aaah! For the first time I understand what people mean by calling her a "talented communicator". I vehemently disagreed because she's been terrible at communicating UCP policies & laws. Now I see she's a "talented communicator" for the far right, the same way Goebbels was for his party.

Yeah. Smith is too much of a media personality. Every muscle twitch, every intonation of hers is calculated for effect. This is her way of gaining sympathy, the way people rallied around Dr. Bonnie Henry when she choked up on live TV. Smith is the arsonist now trying to put out the fire.

This! I don't understand why anyone would vote for another referendum, unless they want to separate. The separatists don't need "saving", they already have the Ab gov on side. We're not voting for actual separation in 2026 because of the courts & the UCP wanting a vote before the
