"commoditization and decentralization shift the balance of power. Dependency creates leverage, whether it's a country's gas supply or a company's cloud provider, and the engineering choices we make determine who holds that leverage"

Peter Mandelson's belief that the UK has to "demonstrate that we are relevant & useful to the United States", that the US is committed to Europe's security, that Trump won't invade Greenland & believes in an independent & democratic Ukraine, seems as misplaced as his (earlier) trust on J. Epstein

Spain's ISPs block IPs used by pirate streaming sites during the Spanish league football matches. IP-level blocks impact the many unrelated sites that are behind each IP. Adding insult to injury, Movistar keeps the blocks for 14 HOURS after the match is over. bandaancha.eu/articulos/mo...

Many DMCA cases, probably others as well. The Lumen database contains legal complaints and requests for removal of online materials. You can then see if the site complained about is accessible after the complain --we did that some time ago arxiv.org/pdf/1902.05796

At the same time #IETF activity has decreased very substantially. Although drafts are increasing (and some will become RFCs). So where is the #IETF at and where should it head to? [4/n]

So is the #IETF more concentrated in a few key players? Mostly not but... [3/n]
Gini index of participation on the IETF, it oscillates first decreasing, then growing, then decreasing again. Overall it seems (very roughly) stable

The number of organisations #IETF participants are affiliated with, grew and stabilised. Not across all forms of participation though [2/n]

From http/s to IPv4/6 or DNS, all happens at the #IETF. Almost 40 years after the 1st IETF, the Internet has become a commodity. Where is the #IETF at? See below & on @irtf.org #ANRW paper (Tues-11.30): "Two Decades of IETF Affiliations: Evolution and Impact" www.irtf.org/anrw/2025/pr... [1/n]
