In 1980, Hayao Miyazaki felt creatively washed up. Then he read an American comic that amazed him. Its name: Rowlf. As he tried to adapt it into a movie, Miyazaki evolved and found a new approach that reshaped his work. We're looking into the story: animationobsessive.substack.com/p/an-unmade-...

if thats how it is they dont really explain it, unless it comes up again in a later season. they just go "yeah bloodbending can do this now idk." it would honestly make more sense to me if it was just like a really advanced version of chi blocking instead of throwing bloodbending in there too

i dont even blame you 😭 the first half of the show is like 4/10 it pissed me off

010

🌿🛸🦠🦕🧪🌀🦎 @iggy666.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

it hasnt got too crazy yet where im at. im really dissatisfied with the lack of explanation to how bloodbending could take someones bending away & basically everything after that lol. i dont mind conveniences for the sake of moving the plot but there were so many things that seemed cheap

🌿🛸🦠🦕🧪🌀🦎 @iggy666.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

if i was watching this as it was airing week by week i would have dropped it after only 2 or 3 episodes.

IFKR RIGHT LIKE ??????????? 😭😭😭 who tf do we think was also shipping kataang and everything else

020

🌿🛸🦠🦕🧪🌀🦎 @iggy666.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

so it seems like theyre taking “some writers wanted it” to mean “it was actually intended canon but the network/creators/whoever had an agenda bc zutara shippers are mostly women and therefore its misogyny that caused it to not be canon” like a big conspiracy 😭😭😭

120

🌿🛸🦠🦕🧪🌀🦎 @iggy666.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

the person who replied to me sent me all these clips where a few of the writers said they shipped it & argued for it behind the scenes. & i totally believe that honestly, i already got that vibe from the little teases in the show itself, but that still doesnt change that the show isnt about them lol

120

🌿🛸🦠🦕🧪🌀🦎 @iggy666.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

LOL FOR REAL like i dont even dislike the ship 😭 im sure some of the writers shipped it too. its still not canon tho LOL

dude the other day some random girl found a week old post where i mentioned not really seeing zu//ta/ra in the show and replied with a whole ass fucking conspiracy essay about how its actually the real true intended ship and the haters are misogynist. like ok i didnt ask. reeked of cope lmfao

lol i expected to hear that from u. ive heard some extremely mixed opinions abt it. im tempering my expectations. its hard to fill the footsteps of a 10/10 show so im trying to be nice.

120

🌿🛸🦠🦕🧪🌀🦎 @iggy666.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

also not rlly a real criticism but i just dont like that aang died young 😭 i want him to grow old & wise as fuck and have an epic beard stache like gyatso. i like seeing old as fuck katara & their kids & stuff obviously but i wish more time had passed in between the shows.

140

🌿🛸🦠🦕🧪🌀🦎 @iggy666.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

i just dont think they married the two aesthetics well. they keep showing the dirty victorian era england streets but then putting asian flutes behind it and it doesnt gel at all its kind if distracting

160

🌿🛸🦠🦕🧪🌀🦎 @iggy666.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

the setting of republic city just seems a bit tortured to me. like why is it european. like why didnt they do steampunk beijing or something instead. like i know steampunk is inherently victorian but idk.
