The clearest example of this, to me, is on the iconic arithmetic website, where the author admonishes the horrific nature of positional notation and then proceeds to demonstrate why the iconic approach is better… by reconstructing positional notation exactly the same.

Our blessed homeland vs their barbarous wastes; two contrasting sets of labels for things which appear identical.

Same one early morning near the Rocche dei Sette Fratelli. We got up around sunrise to watch the fog roll into the valleys, which was amazing.

Post a photo of a car you took. VW Karmann Ghia, I believe! Spotted in Glasgow in February 2025. Fortunately the road was quiet enough for me to stand in the middle of it between bits of traffic to compose the shot—still really happy with it. I love anamorphic.

Updating my profile pic here to a crop of this wonderful painting by @sureymaws.bsky.social! Dead thrilled with how this piece came out; I absolutely adore the brushwork.

I feel like posting some art, so! Here is a digital painting I commissioned from @itsdablazewolf.bsky.social earlier this year. It’s a seascape with an impressionist style and one of my favourites from this year. The mood of the piece came out just sublime.
