John Carpenter Weekend Part Two! Instead of cleaning the house, I got distracted and watched Escape From New York. I give it a 3.75/5.

Watched They Live. It's depressing how much this movie still resonates in 2026. But there's some cool stuff here about intersectionality, class struggle, and allyship if you peer underneath the surface. 4.25/5.

Roddy Piper wears sunglasses and holds a gun. An alien capitalist with a skeletal face looks menacingly behind him. https://waichingsthoughts81.blogspot.com/2024/02/retro-review-they-live-1988.html

My wife is out of town, so I'm going to clean the house and watch John Carpenter films.

David Keith and Roddy Piper wear sunglasses and hold guns. The sunglasses they wear help them see the alien-capitalist propaganda. They look ready to defend their city from alien capitalists.

Last four films I watched! Movies that make me feel something always get a higher rating because that's what good art should do.

Project Hail Mary was Amaze, Amaze, Amaze. Heartfelt, funny, and emotionally compelling. I highly recommend checking this film out in theatres. PHM is a reminder that kindness and friendship can save the world.

I'm struggling to find hope in this world, so I volunteered at my local SPCA. In these dark times, I encourage you to gravitate towards hope and joy in everything you do. I fear this world will swallow up hopefull people and spit them out. I'm trying to stop that from happening to me.

Social media tips for comic creators: Bluesky works best when we focus on consistent, authentic, and meaningful interactions and engagements. The 'post-it-and-hope-it-catches-on' approach doesn't work unless you already have a large following. So let's invest in authentic engagements!
