The Fed Gov is attacking workers right to strike. Bill C-39 will give the Minister of Labour the power to intervene & end strikes at their discretion, without any legislative oversight. The right to strike is non-negotiable. Tell your MP to protect workers rights. buff.ly/3l3bYmA

Though the commitment to the Nova Scotia Film & Television Production Incentive Fund remains the same, these proposed cuts will damage Nova Scotia's cultural sector. This is a time for us to show up for others who showed up for us in 2015 when we were battling similar devastating cuts. See you Wed.
A photo of a film set with a navy blue colour wash. The IATSE Local 849 logo. White text at the bottom of the image says "We Stand in SOLIDARITY Against Proposed 2026 NS Budget Cuts.White text on a navy background. The IATSE Local 849 logo sits in the left hand corner under a white horizontal line. The text reads: The Province of Nova Scotia released its budget last week. It targets the cultural sector disproportionately with cuts that will directly harm Nova Scotia’s cultural organizations, working artists, and arts professionals.

This includes a crushing 30% cut to operating grants for arts organizations, including those like AFCOOP, The Bus Stop Theatre, AIFF, Nocturne, Fringe Festival, and more.

Though the commitment to the Nova Scotia Film & Television Production Incentive Fund remains the same, these proposed cuts will damage Nova Scotia's cultural sector. This is a time for us to show up for others who showed up for us in 2015 when we were battling similar devastating cuts. White text on a navy background. Two large quotation marks imply this is a quote. The text reads: Even the most commercial level of filmmaking is enriched by the visual artists, writers, dancers, actors, and musicians who inspire and, in many cases, make up our crews ... all our cultural industries are intertwined and when one part of us is attacked, all of us are attacked. We need to step up to support each other."

The quote is attributed to Kevin Lewis, IATSE Local 849 member since 1999.White text on a navy background. The IATSE Local 849 logo sits in the left hand corner under a white horizontal line. The text reads: There is a rally on Wednesday, March 4 at noon outside Province House in response to the proposed cuts. Members of Local 849 staff will be in attendance, alongside representatives from the Canadian International Office. We hope to see you there.

Another rally happening in response to the budget cuts is the Shoulder to Shoulder rally, calling on the Houston government to respect Treaty Rights and democratic processes. We are all Treaty People. Join Tuesday March 3, at noon outside Province House.

If you can't attend the rallies in person, we encourage you to call or email your MLA. Find your MLA’s contact info at nslegislature.ca or visit nsarts.ca for more ways to add your voice.
