Little wet out there today for a run. The course wasn’t marked very well, myself and these two people I was pacing with ended up going the wrong way, then a bunch of people followed us. We only ended up doing 4.6 miles instead of 6.2 but it was still a fun time. I’m not winning anything anyway.

We got Poppy from SNAFU rescue almost two months ago. She’s like a different dog. We’ve still only heard her bark 3 times, all while playing, otherwise she is an absolute spaz(in a good way). She loves to play and roll in the dirt, as shown in this picture. I’m so happy we added her to our family.

Time for a 9k. My friend that was supposed to come with me didn’t so it’s another solo one for me. I wish the sun would’ve stayed under the clouds like it has been most of the day. It’s pretty miserable out here.

Since I’m not in half marathon shape anymore and probably won’t ever be again I’ve been finding some fun shorter races to do. I’ve got a 9k this Saturday and also signed up for this. It comes with a pint glass instead of a shirt and will be over in time to watch the Hawks at Michigan!

Day 11 with Poppy in our family. She still hasn’t met Kane but her and Marley are besties. Mar is teaching her how to play. She’s becoming a wiz on the stairs and sat outside with us Saturday watched a parade and loved getting pets from everyone. She still doesn’t like kisses. #rescue #frenchie

Day 4 since Poppy joined our family. She’s a sweetheart. We haven’t introduced her to our reactive male but her and our female have become fast friends. She’s 3 1/2 but it’s like she’s just now learning how to be a dog. She doesn’t really know how to play, how to accept affection or to use stairs.

I posted this 13 years ago when I’m guessing my mom bailed me out of another jam, whether it be hauling kids, floating me $50 or just talking me off of a ledge when I really needed it. Holy shit, I miss my mom and I know my kids do too. She was the coolest. I also see my mistake with you’re. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Not sure exactly what the weather that came through my dad’s farm was but it did some damage. The side of one of the machine sheds got caved in and the roof moved. A grain bin roof got caved in. It ripped a 35 year old tree straight out of the ground and a bunch of other trees were “trimmed.”

I’m a tad hesitant to share this because my wife has submitted an application to adopt Opal but I just want to make sure if we don’t end up with her someone worthy does. She was the sweet girl we transported from Sioux City. She’ll make some family extremely happy.

For the first time in over a year and a half a good non-local punk show was announced in Des Moines! One of my “Mount Rushmore” bands, Joe has had a lineup on tour for basically 40 years. I think the first time I saw them was in 2001 and have seen them 7-9 times since. They never disappoint.

This is the little girl we transported from Sioux City to Des Moines last weekend. She’s currently being fostered in Olathe, KS. She is the sweetest. There’s a chance she ends up becoming a member of our family.

What a fun Friday night. Got to see one of my favorite bands play some of their new songs (EP comes out next Friday, available on Bandcamp) and hang out with my daughter. I’m so lucky for the relationships I have with both of my kids. As they’ve become adults they’ve also become my best friends.
