TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 21hOne of the classic 'enjoy being a guest not a customer' bars. 010
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Well that went well. All about getting Carlsberg product into 1400 Marstons pubs. And a few real estate deals on brewery sites. From BBC May 2020. 000
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Brilliant programme. Don't know why but I recall the Italian band PFM. 000
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Thornbridge has a Burton Union. I'm fully supportive of Burton's brewing heritage but if I could walk to the Bass brewery tap from Youlgrave..... 000
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Interestingly there is no mention of Burton on the latest Bass pump clip unlike previous versions. Should have guessed the reason. 010
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Bass to be brewed in the iconic AB InBev factory at Samlesbury? 200
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Seems to be a common approach to serious journalists. See Janice Turner in The Times. 000
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 01/10/2026The essence of winter evening games. That Tuesday feeling. 010
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Agreed. It's become a tradition when the grandkids stay over that I put my attempts at art on the fridge door. 010
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Trying to pass Quinno's work off as your own. Shocker. 110
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 01/10/2026And now the Reform-led County Council has banned the journalist. 010
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 01/10/2026I hold by my publican Granddad's view to not discuss politics in the village pub. However I often have to listen to 'commonsense' views that I'm told aren't politics. 111
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Although I do remember Bob spinning a few discs before the live recording of the OGWT Janis Ian special that I went to. 010
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 19/09/2026Well done on waiting for the Shore Ditch bus to match the caption. Have a good holiday. 010
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 19/09/2026And yet he's done so well with his involvement in sailing, cycling and football. 010
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 17/09/2026A disgraceful bullying episode and a waste of taxpayers' money. www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/news/local-n...derbytelegraph.co.uk'I spent £50k fighting the council for the right to walk through my garden gate'Derbyshire County Council fenced in Helene Ball's rear garden which she has used for 59 years, over a perceived access dispute 121
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 16/09/2026I'm a bit worried that a bloke leading a party with 71 MPs might not turn up for his own party conference. Has anyone seen Ed Davey this year? 000
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 16/09/2026Apted did a brilliant job with what he had. I'm not sure he chose the kids. Knowing the selection process would be fascinating. As you might have guessed I've just gone 70 Up. Worth a detailed post from you I think? 110
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 16/09/2026But...did it suggest that it wasn't possible for his class to break out. Left uni after a term, mental health issues. As he's hinted, was he used by Apted as a form of entertainment. 100
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 16/09/2026It is a brilliant & fascinating programme. However, its initial selection meant it largely missed out on chronicling those groups where there was the largest social movement/advancement. 110
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 15/09/2026Brilliant....it can be worse....like trying to get your driving licence from the DVLA after you declare a resolved medical condition. Wading through treacle would be easier. 010
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 13/09/2026It's more exciting than election night. I think you need a swingometer equivalent. 110
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 13/09/2026From 12 noon today I'll be in Youlgrave church pulling pints of Thornbridge various. 020

TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 11/09/2026Remarkable people. I am so grateful for their skill, care and resilience. #HathersagePool #RLSS 000
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Completely agree, but try and explain the logic to farmers who seem to worship Clarkson and his lager. 000
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 08/09/2026A spinning moral compass at Derbyshire Constabulary. Ranging from women fined for drinking peppermint tea in COVID times..... to this week's sackings for driving without insurance/MOT/insurance and racist and sexist comments online. 010
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 06/09/2026On a stroll today, and the Red Arrows gave us a display. Of course there's a remote possibility they were on the way to Chatsworth Country Show. 110
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 03/09/2026From watching football in the lower leagues, there are too many from the higher league academies who are not battle-hardened physically or mentally even in their 20s. 000
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 03/09/2026It's become a family joke that I once uttered, "if I wanted to watch Falkirk v. Stenhousemuir, I'd have holidayed in Glasgow". 010
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 03/09/2026Great to get a sustainable view of Tenerife. Good luck. The southern half has a completely over-heated economy that is spiralling down. Is it snobby to search for a local bar and a restaurant used by locals? I'm not sure, but I find it tragic that a beautiful island is being destroyed bit by bit. 110
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 03/09/2026Looks like it'll be very overcast so wickets will be falling quickly. 110
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 03/09/2026Off to Trent Bridge for a sleepy County Championship v. Leicestershire. Lunch in Castle Rock's Embankment, post-cricket in the VAT and Fiddle and a curry to finish. Fine day in prospect. 162
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 02/09/2026I usually store it in a cool garage and go for October/ November planting. Note: I'm 600' ASL in the Peak District so you might need to chill it. Brilliant crop, we're usually self-sufficient in garlic for the year. 010
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 01/09/2026Excellent article. A couple of sparkler memories....I remember a visit to Grainstore Brewery in Oakham. They had duplicate hand pulls for sparkler/no sparkler. In COVID, I drilled the top of a plastic bottle (filled with beer) to create sparkler dispense. 000
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 01/09/2026For food-led pubs I struggle to understand why they don't take a card deposit upfront. 010
TheWickingMan @ianthurman.bsky.social · 29/08/2026It only gets worse. Wait till the service department connects the computer and then does a job that completely fails to address the problem with the car. My Kia dealer this week. 110
