Liverpool v Man City getting a bit physical. I suppose it's good prep for City when they're in League 2. 😉

Much better today. More forward passing; more pressing. TBF Motherwell were poor though. Baur is the player CalMac used to be.

A plant that refined diesel, just the sort of asset you'd need during fuel supply disruption. A story that the media have deemed not to be newsworthy.

Someone on here posted about the fact Africans (in the Roman Legions) would have been procreating in England long before any Anglo-Saxon arrived and just thought of every tiny racist mind that would blow.

I laughed at that more than i should have. Yes, making McInnes look like a tactical genius is quite the feat; especially when he's just doing what he's always done.

Hopefully MON has spent the three weeks reflecting on the fact the way he tried to play against Rangers is totally foreign to our squad. If we don't get back to high-pressing we'll continue to struggle.

Company behind Scotland’s biggest data centre proposal is owned by the treasurer of the UK Conservative party via British Virgin Islands. It could receive £23m public subsidy. BVI facilitates opacity and tax avoidance. Successive UK govts have defended the use of tax havens by wealthy elites.

Scotland may be set to host one of the world’s most powerful data centres. The Conservative Party’s money man stands to benefit.

'Lord Botham' just highlights what an affront the House of Lords is to the little democracy we actually have in the UK. What great expertise and wisdom does he bring to be able to legislate on the political direction of the UK? Even the contestant in chair 4 on The Chase could answer that one.

It would seem our govt doesn't even want 'the brightest and the best' when it comes to immigration. Only the richest. When i was younger i thought most politicians were smarter than me. I don't think that anymore.

QPR had a great team in 1975/76 and almost won the league. Been to Loftus Rd a few times - tight little old school ground. If i lived in London i'd go to see one of the smaller clubs like themselves or Fulham. If West Ham were still at the Boleyn, them too.

Large parts of the US never left the dark ages. We think they're 'just like us' because we share a common language. That's pretty much all we have in common.

Ironically, McInnes' Rangers team is much more like a MON team than we are. Our high-press was our superpower - choking off the opposition's possession means we restrict their opportunities. Not pressing is the reason we concede so many chances now.

Ian Mackay @ianmackay.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
I don't think you even need to be that tactically aware to see the issues. We all see the haphazard attempts at pressing; the passing across the back line that just invites trouble and then the hoof up the park. MON was never a tactician, 'old school' doesn't cut it in 2026.

When you're rooted in a land you protect the environment because it's part of you. Settlers destroy without any emotion because they have no connection to it. It's true everywhere.

It is a fig-leaf politicians use to do nothing but it's also the law. The last ICJ ruling was definitive - Israel must leave the occupied territories asap. No negotiation; no discussion. Just leave. Ed Miliband said he'd follow international law. So enforce it.

Military spending has always been the easiest way to transfer public money into private pockets. Capitalists have long given up 'making stuff' now it's just a constantly dreaming up new ways to pick tax-payers pockets.

Celtic are an attractive proposition for any potential buyer - Roger Mitchell confirmed this the other day (as has David Low). The club has massive potential for expansion. DD is clearly content with the status quo - our only hope is that he doesn't want the hassle anymore and sells up.

I went to the Free church in my youth and even there most would be horrified to be called 'orange'. The order was created to sow religious division - marching where they're not wanted is exactly the point.

Tory messaging never really changes, it's always a variation of, 'vote for us and we will make you as wealthy as us'. Of course that's a load of bollocks but it constantly dupes enough people to vote against their own, actual interests.

I was always told by people in the industry that anything older than 12 years was just clever marketing. Older doesn't mean better, it's just a way from extracting more money from the same product.

See my article here: www.commonweal.scot/articles/mag... I'm not convinced that the state pension can be further reformed without tackling the private pension sector. ScotGov should investigate what it can do there with devolved powers. Possibly a publicly-owned "single-payer" workplace pension?

Ian Mackay @ianmackay.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Reform of the private sector pensions should start with reducing the higher rate of tax relief down to the lower level. It doesn't make sense that the wealthiest should get more tax relief. That alone would save billions.
