I think Boris did permanent damage to our political system in the way he normalised lying. There are no principles in public office anymore. Even the Tories used to be honourable enough to resign when they got caught out.

Ask someone to define Britishness and they'll invariably offer a definition that describes Englishness, and a particularly home counties kind of Englishness at that. Cricket and tea and village greens and Anglican vicars. Britishness is a lot harder to define.

Also, do people think the Walden/Disney Narnia films were true to the books? Because as much as I love them, they really weren't. They kept putting the White Witch in where she didn't belong and inserting massive battles so that they'd feel like Lord of the Rings.

It's weird to me seeing people complain about them adapting the Chronicles of Narnia in chronological order rather than publication order because EVERY set of the books I've ever owned has them in chronological order. The Magician's Nephew is Book One.

Ian Sharman @iandsharman.bsky.social · 14/10/2026

Also, I had to make a phone call to arrange this. I was very brave and actually did it!

Ian Sharman @iandsharman.bsky.social · 14/10/2026

This may come as a shock to some people but The Chronicles of Narnia aren't The Bible. They aren't scripture. Aslan isn't Jesus because Aslan isn't real (your opinion on the reality of Jesus notwithstanding). It's allegory. Aslan is analogous to Jesus. He is not literally Jesus.
