I think they went to decadence at any cost and side-stepped the concept of ‘class’ as in ‘how one acts in a variety of situations’. They seem to applaud the crass. We in the UK and Europe taught them little.

Must say that Sebastian Faulk’s ‘Farewell to Eden’ is absorbing. He’s never disappointed. His books have a knack of making me not wanting to finish them. Yes, they can be uncomfortable, yes they can make me think, or re-think things, but that’s a good thing!

The issue comes alive when you consider the point at which people become embroiled in the darkness. From the uk, I don’t believe all republicans are Trumpian, but too many have literally sold their souls and gone to the dark side, so to speak. How do you row back from that when it’s too late?
