It's about balancing consumer rights with the creative rights developers have over their games. Publishers who give developers the tools to build and market their game also have rights they need to protect. Consumers are not the only people with rights. A good distribution service serves all.

Simply put, I disagree and so do modern digital rights management services that are offered to creators to distribute their products as well as to consumers to buy those products. Each party has their rights they should be able to protect, and Steam's DRM protects all rights the best imo.

Balance changes, QOL updates, UI updates, performance optimizations, and the like are all gold standards to look forward to in a year with no additional content. As this might be seen as a year without revenue by BHVR,this kind of a project may be deprioritized for projects that generate revenue tho

So you should be able to profit off of the work of someone else, is that right? When you buy a game to play, you want to be able to go back and sell the game when you are done playing it. Digital ownership has been defined already, and is protected under various DRM. Have you seen Steam's DRM?

I disagree with your interpretation of what consumers are entitled to when purchasing digital media. Keep in mind that the actual product you are consuming is the media itself, which is entirely digital. All physical copies of digital media start as digital media which must be protected by copyright

I would recommend you read up on the Steam EULA and Steam Subscriber Agreement and see how consumer and creator rights are balanced fairly in the modern age of gaming.

On the disc, though, is an executable version ("binary") of the source code of the software. You do not own that code, but rather a personal revocable license to execute that code on an authorized PlayStation machine. The key difference is Sony DRM is hardware bound to PS whereas Steam is not.

100% physical products is a little inaccurate. Like I said, games are digital objects and subject to digital ownership rules ("DRM"). Sony's DRM stipulates that all software distributed for the system is licensed to the user, not sold. You own the disc and the box and all the rights under FSD (1/2)

I'm saying if you're mad about the end of physical gaming media, my recommendation is to look at reevaluate what video games are and what it means to own a video game as a consumer. The modern perspective is that video games should be subject to digital ownership rules.
