Two things that pro-AI people will never understand. Consent and compensation. They don’t want to ask for consent and they don’t want to pay the original artists their slop is trained on. AI makes them feel like they can create, when all they’re doing is stealing and they’re proud of that.

Leaving imperfections in your music is the way to stand out in the age of AI. Especially when it comes to vocals. I’m leaving all of breaths in, if my voice isn’t autotuned perfectly it doesn’t matter, if there’s timing that’s a little early or late I leave it in. I’m human.

I wish Stevie Wonder and his label valued his unreleased work the same way Paul McCartney does. Stevie hasn’t put a studio album out in 20 years, he doesn’t need to. BUT MAN the stuff in his vault must be fantastic. 60’s, 70’s and 80’s era unreleased songs, demos etc. Wow.

Being a musician and listening to other musicians songs, I can’t help but dissect how the song is made. The drums, the instruments, the production and effects. Aphex Twin is probably the only musician where I can just listen to his songs, as a piece of music, without dissecting them.

It’s been said for a couple of years now that 60% of all internet traffic are now bots. As of this week, we found out that an AI song is at the top of the country Billboard chart and that 70% of all ‘listeners’ of AI music are actually bots. Dead Internet Theory is a reality.

The music marketing advice I see on social media is such BS. I don’t run ads, I don’t often talk to camera, I don’t post everyday, I don’t produce one genre, and yet I have a healthy amount of monthly listeners, and several million plays. I’m a full-time musician.

Lockdown really brought the music world together. Musicians, producers and artists talking to each other on Discord, Twitch, Podcasts etc. Sharing music, knowledge, and just hanging out. Now it’s gone back to zero back and forth conversation between creatives.

A hill I'm willing to die on is that ABBA are massively overrated and are responsible for the ‘death’ of Disco. Disco was initially associated with Black, LGBTQ+ & Latino communities, but it later became over-commercialised, lost its authenticity and became too formulaic.

I hope Rockstar Games realises how important the music is in its GTA games. The Fever 105 radio station in Vice City basically shaped my music taste. It inspired a whole generation of kids. So GTA 6 needs to get it right for the next generation.

My biggest issue with Dance Music is that unlike other genres, too many artists stay in their lane and suffer greatly doing so. By that I mean if you listen to 2 records by the same artist 20 years apart, there’s no growth. They sound the same. I get way more enjoyment hearing artists experiment.

I really hate this 2m30s song trend. Especially for dance music. You can’t fit in enough builds, breaks and drops in that time. It just messes with the flow of the song. We had it perfect at 3m30s, plenty of time for intros, bridges, solos etc. Now all of that is cut out.
