The Docs site also gained versioned docs, which in retrospect is something I should have started doing years ago. Better late than never though, right? 🫠 simplewebauthn.dev/docs
The SimpleWebAuthn docs site header shows off an expanded dropdown listing two docs versions, "14.0.x" (currently selected) as well as "13.3.x".

I noticed that the credential ID returned from verifyRegistrationResponse() isn't being used when saving the cred to the DB. Did you already catch and fix that? I wonder if that's contributing to the difficulties in using the cred for auth afterwards...?

Affinity is still absolutely massive - download a 980MB file into an uncompressed 3.5GB executable 😵
A macOS file transfer dialog shows that the Affinity application being copied to the Applications directory is 3.5GB in size.

It's disappointing that @wired.com continues to disallow managing your subscription from the browser. Two obvious links on the site turn into simple redirect loops back to the website after re-login. One page showed me a contact phone number but the phone support people get stuck in the loops too 🫠
Clicking around to manage my subscription, I come across a page with the Wired logo and a block of text below that simply says, "Thank you for being a loyal subscriber. If you would like to manage your subscription, please click here. If you have any questions about your subscription, please give us a call at 1-855-226-5869 (1-332-237-7084 if outside the United States) or email us." A white-on-black Manage Subscription button appears below this text.

The words "click here" and the Manage Subscription button both take me through multiple redirects back to the wired.com homepage. I am never shown a page to actually view my existing subscription.

_Common sense_ dictates that no one who produces original work that goes into training AI should get compensated because they own the copyright to their work?! Seriously, fuck this Neo Manifest Destiny bullshit out of the pro-AI camp www.wired.com/story/presid...
Those who want Al companies to be able to train on copyrighted works without licensing the material are celebrating Trump's remarks. "He's absolutely right," says Adam Eisgrau, a senior director at the Chamber of Progress. "Common sense dictates that requiring gen-Al developers to license the copyrighted works they're trained on is both not doable and makes little sense, because those works are not plagiarized. They're used, as a person would, to learn and produce amazing technology that two federal courts have already said is 'spectacularly transformative."

Shaming my friend who drives a Tesla is like shooting fish in a barrel
A friend sends me a Terminator Skynet meme but about Grok going MechaHitler instead.

When he responds that he's got Grok in his Tesla and "it’s right now just a conversational bot," I respond, "when Grok starts driving your car in a future update hopefully they'll train it to be a lawyer too so your car can represent you in court when it drives over a person because they looked like a Jew."

He responds, "thats not even funny man." To which I rebut, "it's pretty funny, you're driving a car with MechaHitler in the passenger seat."

Sam, the main character of the game Death Stranding 2, walks into an elevator. The backpack facing the camera has the word "BOOB" in white lettering on grey patches, each letter a patch. A big mushroom patch finishes the row of five.

Family Lending of Virtual Game Cards on Switch sounds great, but it's unclear if physical proximity is a hard requirement when lending to a member of the Family 🤔 The Direct said the consoles have to be proximate, but later some fine print says it's possible to connect online to start a lent game?
A Nintendo Switch lends a game to a Family Members' Switch LiteFine print at the end of the Family Member lending segment states, "By navigating to User Settings → Online-License Settings and turning the setting to ON, you can instead opt to connect to the internet to start up software."

There's now AI art...of a cow looking at porn...hanging up in the bathroom at my kid's daycare 😂
Shitty AI art of an anthropomorphized cow sitting on the toilet like it's pooping, pants down at its ankles. It looks straight ahead while holding an issue of "Cute Cows" magazine, ostensibly pictures of naked cows. Some weird burrito-looking things overflow a trash can to the left of the cow. It's just so uninspired

I started a spite-post on r/sonos after an awful time trying and failing to set up a new Beam 2 and Sub 3 (they've both been returned, that's how bad the current OOBE is) only to see this amazing disclaimer. Sonos gear has become such hot garbage, all due to a shitty mobile experience!
A screenshot of the bottom of the Reddit post generator informing me that, "Before posting, please note that if your submission is simply a low-effort complaint about the current state of the app, which has already been discussed to death, it might be subject to removal while we attempt to keep engaging and interesting content flowing."

Every work trip I get bougier and bougier (it's a 3.5mm to Bluetooth adapter for in-flight entertainment systems)
A white box on a black desktop. The box cover shows off a white a 1Mii 3.5mm male to Bluetooth adapter with a small screen, a minus button, and OK button, and a plus button. Amusingly, I ordered the black version but it still showed up in a box featuring the white model.

Hosting on JSR.io represents a huge reduction in work on my end to maintain installation options that can support Node, Deno, Bun, Cloudflare, etc... The amount of code, dependencies, and bundling complexity I've been able to remove by making every package into "Deno codebases" has been staggering 🤯
A screenshot of the top of PR #634 in the MasterKale/SimpleWebAuthn repo on GitHub. The most relevant part of the screenshot is the ratio of additions to changes, showing 1951 additions and 9967 deletions.

These aren't officially supported (yet?), but if you're a passkeys dev of the Deno persuasion you might check out the "11.0.0-alpha2" releases of SimpleWebAuthn on JSR.io: jsr.io/@simplewebau... I'm still exploring how embracing JSR might simplify my OSS work...but color me impressed 🤔

big mood
White text on a red sign originally say, "country over party" in the sense of "choosing the good of the nation over political party affiliation." I crudely edited the image to say, "country-comma-over-question-mark-party-exclamation-mark" to capture how it can feel like the country died with the re-election of Trump. And what else can you do in the face of that feeling but party?

Kiddo earned a Dole Whip but fell asleep on the way to getting one. We snuck out to the parking garage thinking she'd accept an IOU, but she woke up and got REAL mad. 48 minutes later we're back in line and nearly to the register. Lesson: don't try to teach your hangry 3yo about IOUs?? 🫠

It's really surprising to me how much awareness has been raised about image alt text with the success of Mastodon and now Bluesky. None of the legacy social media platforms like Twitter ever bothered to convince people to add it, so a11y Twitter must have such a small amount of content...

I found an admittedly edge case of a bug in Safari's WebAuthn conditional UI support. Start a conditional UI request, then abort the request and try to call `.create()`. macOS 13.4 @ Safari 16.5 will raise a weird "NotAllowedError: Operation failed" error. Submitted a bug, let's see what Apple says

Whoa, Chrome has a new "Continue where you left off" option that doesn't appear to clear session cookies even if you quit out of the browser. Doesn't that defeat the point of session cookies? 😱

I had time to catch a movie last night so I finally saw John Wick 4. Tons of enjoyable action to go around but a lot of it felt...less intense?...than previous movies. Still worth a watch imo Not featured in the photo: John Wick 4 (I can't wait for Fast X, I love that entire series 😆)
