Got me down for a year at $5. I encourage you to spend it all on an extra round of drinks. Not something responsible or anything. We all need it.

I cannot fully express my gratitude that you always go out of your way to provide the courtlistener link on top of screen shots. It’s little things like this that make your reporting extra exceptional. Keep on rocking it.

I think it’s the opposite. Abrego contends he can prove vindictiveness without their testimony. The next step is for govt to argue that’s not the case. If govt succeeds in that step, then they get called in as witnesses to prove the case the govt just presented above was prefectural

Basically, the judge sees that (and Abrego contends that) it’s entirely possible to rule in Abregos favor without even needing them to testify. So hes holding the order to make them testify to the side and doing the rest of the work first.

Ahhh, that makes sense. Friggin docket management. Pitchfork back in hand.

The most recent MOTION on the docket is a joint motion saying that there is no further action required by the court due to the SCOTUS decision. While the motion to dismiss hasn’t been filed or granted, I have to assume that this motion would have put the brakes on this docket. Right?

It’s a temporary stay to enable to court of review to take the time needed to assign judges and get up to speed in order to make a final decision on if they want to place a permanent stay. It’s a standard, but often times frustrating, practice on appeals.

The government lawyer used the word convicted when describing the crimes. But that’s about the best we got so far.

I’m on the voice line. Have been entered in. But nobody is talking (with the exception of one random guy who was seemingly improperly asked to unmute)

The model that this is based on includes a lot of those too. Primarily more direct costs such as changes to Medicaid. Not as much FEMA style hits though.

They’re also asking for Rule 30(b)(6) depositions. Basically, this requires the gov to fully brief whoever they select to be deposed so they can’t claim personal ignorance when asked questions.

Garcia’s lawyers offered a Stipulation of Confidentiality agreement. Basically, it’s supposed to help grease the wheels on them getting full discovery up front and then later argue that individual pieces are relevant facts that should be included in the record. It’s a routine practice.

It was Garcia’s lawyers who submitted the proposed Stipulation of Confidentiality Order that is requiring the redactions in this motion.
