We were honored to co-present alongside our partner Alight at the InterAction Forum in Washington, DC, today! Our Senior Manager for Global Programs and Partnerships, Sedrick Murhula, was there to share how iACT approaches community-led humanitarian action, the process, the barriers, and the “why.”

iACT integrates mindfulness exercises into each of our programs. Mindfulness helps individuals learn how to cope with stress, strengthen self-regulation skills, and build resilience. A key aspect of our Little Ripples curriculum is the introduction of mindfulness,

"I will keep working for justice and peace. But, I need help, because I‘m not sure we “survivors” in the camps can make it for another 20 years. I am calling the international community to stand up and stop these human-made atrocities." –Al-Fateh "Oumda" Haroun, eastern Chad

iACT team members will be in New York this week, attending the UN General Assembly (UNGA). We are going into UNGA81 with a focus on our community-led approach, and how the humanitarian sector is taking real, tangible actions toward local leadership and sustainability.

Gabriel Stauring (iACT's co-founder)'s first trips to Chad were all about listening and forming friendships. Over time, this evolved into our current model of humanitarian action, which involves listening, training, co-creating, shifting ownership, community-led scaling, and ongoing support.
Gabriel sits on the ground talking with children and a woman, with more children standing to watch. Graphic of our model of humanitarian action. Community is in the middle of a large circle. Around the circle (starting at the top and going around clockwise) are these words: listening, training, co-creating, shifting ownership, community-led scaling, ongoing support.

Peace is a part of the foundation for every child’s ability to learn, grow, and thrive. In iACT’s Little Ripples early childhood program, the pillar, or principle, of “Peace” anchors the creation of nurturing spaces where young children can feel safe and cared for. Through consistent routines,

We will be there to show support for the thousands of Sudanese fleeing their country per day.We will be there to express our opposition to the NBA's partnership with the UAE; as well as to denounce the UAE's ongoing arming of a group that is continuing to commit genocide in Sudan.Importantly, we will be there in solidarity and on behalf of our Sudanese friends who have been living in Chad as refugees for the last two decades and who still cannot return home.

iACT is going to Las Vegas! (1/2) #SpeakOutOnSudan
more than 20 years ago, iACT's founder started visiting refugee camps in eastern Chad, where Sudanese people who had fled genocide in Darfur were living. The group committing genocide over the last 23+ years is now being provided with weapons and finances by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in the current war in Sudan.Since April 2023, this war has displaced 12.5 million people. 900,000 of them are now refugees in Chad, adding to the nearly 400,000 Sudanese refugees already living there prior to April 2023. Over 1.5 million people have fled to Egypt. Over 8.5 million are displaced within Sudan. The UAE is now sponsoring the Emirates NBA Cup, which is now in Quarterfinal stage of the tournament. Along with other organizations, groups, and individuals, iACT will be at the championship game on December 16, in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
